Mama's Library Table

epb1937@scrtc.com

The library table that stood in the middle
of Mama's sitting-room had it's special space.
It held Mama's prized possessions--
A tiffany lamp brightened up the place;

And a picture of Papa, Mama and all the Kids
Standing and sitting in a rigid, stiff pose
Was near the time-worn Family Bible
That was daily read as you would suppose.

The table was covered with a crocheted doily
Mother had made with her hands.
And near the tattered Holy Bible were
Two colorful-pictured, pleated fans.

The golden picture frame was very old
And was a gift from a neighboring friend;
And the love of kindred members
Will forever be without end.

Love among this family was much
Thus, the tokens were on display.
The memories are cherished
Each and every day.

The library table that stood in the middle
of the room wasn't special--that's for sure.
But it held valuable memories
That will forever endure.
