Elmira College Equestrian Club Contract
2004-2005
To become an active and full member of the Elmira College
Equestrian Club I agree to the following:
- To pay my dues as set at the start of the month on
time and if I fail to do so understand that I cannot participate in lessons
until my dues are paid
- I also understand that a fee will be added to my
dues if I fail to pay it on time
- I will participate in all the lessons on the schedule
including not only riding but also preparing for the ride and taking care of
the horse afterwards. This includes:
- Being able to clean a horse properly before and
after the ride as well as care for the tack and other property of Foxmoor
Farm
- If the rider does not know how to do this properly
it is their responsibility to ask for assistance and to learn so they can
be an active member in all aspects of the club.
- If choosing to be a competitive member to the Elmira
College Equestrian Club the rider must:
- Be able to provide as much of the appropriate riding
habit as outlined by the Elmira College Equestrian Club and IHSA
- Pay for class fees unless otherwise taken care of by
the club
- Abide by all the rules and policies instated by the
Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.
- Remember that they are representative of Elmira
College
- All riders in the Equestrian Club must:
- Provide own hard soled, heeled boots;
This is for the rider’s own safety.
- Wear riding helmets approved by the SEI-ASTM
whenever mounted on a horse. This is not only club policy but state and
federal law as well. Riders will be provided with these helmets by Foxmoor
Farm but are encouraged to obtain their own for health reasons.
- Adhere to all rules at any riding facility (e.g.,
Foxmoor Farm, IHSA Shows, Trail Riding facilities)
- Respect your instructors, members of other college
riding teams, peer team and club members, and most importantly horses. Any
inappropriate behavior will result in termination from the club.
- This includes but is not limited to verbal and
physical abuse to any fellow member or team, horses, instructors.
- Destructive behavior – including alcohol
consumption at or prior to an Elmira College Equestrian event
- All club members must participate in fundraising
activities. Failure to do so will result in higher dues for the club. If a
particular individual in the club repeatedly fails to help in fundraisers,
then only that individual’s dues will increase.
- I also understand that all college rules apply when
off of campus for club related events.
By agreeing to the above I, ______________________
understand my responsibility as a club member and know that failing to meet
these requirements will result in consequences decided by the Elmira College
Equestrian Club and Elmira College.
