The Republic of Singapore Navy : A potent Force The spirit and essence of the Republic of Singapore Navy is best epitomised in the following poem that I managed to find in the RSN's 30th Anniversary Book.
Onwards and Upwards:
From a humble beginning the day we were born Onwards and upwards weve moved on and on Never looking back well always grow Onwards and upwards the best well show Were the ones the sons of the sea Mighty men of the Singapore Navy We will stand for the right We will fight to the end We will always be true to our land
Our waters to guard to ensure they are safe Its a great task only meant for the brave It does make us proud to know that we All play a part to protect our seas Were the ones the sons of the sea Mighty men of the Singapore Navy We will stand for the right We will fight to the end We will always be true to our land
With our comrades in arms from the Land and the Air Together we stand in defence of our land Never flagging in adversity Forward well march on to victory Were the ones the sons of the sea Mighty men of the Singapore Navy We will stand for the right We will fight to the end We will always be true to our land Poem from the RSNs 30th Anniversary Book.
The Republic of Singapore Navy Plaque
The RSN emblem is an anchor, ridged by a spray of laurels And emblazoned at the centre by five stars, a crescent moon, flanked by a Lion and Tiger in a presentation of the National Coat of Arms
The spirit of the nation as symbolised by the crescent moon, five stars, the lion and the tiger is also that of the spirit of the Navy, which is represented by the anchor. As the navy of a nation of rising stars, it has all the qualities depicted in the emblem The Lion stands for nobleness, courage and majesty The Tiger in the defence of these qualities is ever ready to spring in aggressiveness and ferocity
The laurels as the hallmarks of excellence are that of professional nobility of mind and Action that go into the making of the Navy
