The city of Bradbury is a rural community 37 miles from downtown Metropolis. With downtown Metropolis to its west and Medallion City to its south, Bradbury serves primarily as a transportation hub between both bustling metroplises. In 1958, with urban sprawl and government spending at its height, Bradbury became a hotbed of politically and commercially motivated development. Unfotunately, development and interest in Bradbury ended during the recession in 1971.
In 1990, with more federal dollars earmarked to the region, the LLB Land Trust Co. was contracted by the city to build the W. Smith airport. During this time transportation improvements were made to the Bradbury station, including the lines serving both Metropolis and Medallion City.
Last year, the Quarterline R.R. was purchased for $1.00 from the city of Bradbury by the Imperial R.R. Company as part of a massive privatization effort. The Quarterline R.R. is the 1st private commercial rail service since 1941. Since assuming control of the Quarterline, the Imperial R.R. Company has invested $500 million dollars in equipment upgrades. The Imperial R.R. planning committee just announced an additional $150 million investment for the construction of a line between the airport and station. The proposal includes a new $100 million ticket and transportation center.
