The
coral reefs of the Red Sea are only to
be compared with the Australian Great
Barrier Reef. Recently Egyptians and
tourists have become aware of this fact
and everyday new divers are being born.
The climate of the Red Sea makes it
ideal for marine life and the formation
of coral. You’ll find everything from
the little clown fish, the colorful
parotfish, to the more dangerous sharks,
barracudas, jackfish and troopers. Sharm
El Sheikh, Dahzab,
and Hurghada
are the most famous

diving
resorts, and recently the new and
unexposed Marsa
Allam has also appeared. |
|
Sharm,
Dahab, and Hurghada are loaded with diving centers
where you can rent your gear and scuba equipment.
In order to rent tanks from diving centers you
must show your certified license and log book. If
you are not a certified diver you can always take
a diving course at any of the centers. The diving
course takes around 4 to 5 days.
|
|
It
consists of a theoretical section, a confined
water section, and finallyyou get to do four or
five open water dives. Costs vary depending on the
diving center and the diving school (PADI, NAUI,
and SSI). Marsa Allam is more recent and only two
camps or diving safaris with their corresponding
dive centers exist at the moment. However, the
dive sites there are practically untouched, and it
is almost guaranteed to see a shark or two! Get
