Hurghada
|
Along
with Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada is one of
Egypt's two most popular seaside resorts.
With its beaches, water sports,
snorkeling, diving, food and nightlife, it
is definitely the heart of the Red Sea
coast line. Over the past twenty years,
from just a couple of beach resorts it has
become a continuous strip of over 100
hotels and resorts. Hurghada comes as a
break from the temples and ancient
monuments of Egypt for it has none.
Instead

it
offers golden sands and a blue sea filled
with the most exotic marine life. In
Hurghada the water is always warm, the sun
is always shining making it an ideal
summer and winter resort. The town center
is in El-Dahar, with a population of over
40,000, it's where most of the locals
live.

There
are a few hotels and resorts there but the
main area of resorts is further down at
Sigala. Its peak season is from November
to February, but a couple of months before
or after the season also offer very good
weather. If you do come to Hurghada we
recommend you try scuba
diving here, which is ranked among the
top in the world. There are at least 50
diving centers in Hurghada, and

choosing
one should not be a problem. Accommodation
in Hurghada ranges from low-budget hotels
to five star hotels and international
resorts. If you don’t have access to a
car, you can easily get around using the
microbus, which costs only one pound to
take you all the way through town. Several
European airlines and travel agents
arrange weekly charter flights to
Hurghada. From Cairo, you can take the
daily Egypt Air flight (aprox. 45
minutes). There are also several buses a
day to Hurghada. If you’re in Sharm
El-Sheikh, you can cross the Red Sea
and come by boat (the trip takes around
six hours). |
