Computer Hard Ware
5.25 Inch Drive

5.25 inch external drive bays can hold several different types of hardware. For drive bay one I will use a DVD player for an example. The DVD player shown above is similar to the CD player except it can hold much more information. DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disk. DVD-ROM Disks can hold up to 17Gbs (17,000,000,000 bytes) which is a lot more than the CD-ROMs, which can hold only around 650Mbs (650,000,000 bytes). The DVD-ROMs have a lower data transfer speed rating of around 6x for the faster ones; although, 1x for a DVD-ROM player is equal to around 9x for a CD-ROM player. 6x x 9x = 54x which makes the 6x DVD's data transfer speed equivalent to a 54x CD-ROM. I think the fastest CD-ROM at the present is Kenwood's 52x.
