Instruction:

Answer these questions clearly based on Rene Wellek and Austin Warren’s book, Theory of Literature. Your answers must be in Indonesian (bahasa Indonesia). Your answer must be submitted to my box in PBSID FKIP UNLAM on that date.

 

Questions:

1.        Read page 22-23, paragraph 4. Read the paragraph stating, “The main distinctions to be drawn…. until… it directs us unequivocally to its referent.” What does this statement mean?

2.        Read page 25, paragraph 1, line 4. Read the paragraph stating, “… we must realize that the distinctions. … until… sermons.” What does the word fluid in the statement mean or imply?

3.        Read page 23, paragraph 2, line 9. Read the sentence stating, “ literary language is far from merely referential.” What does this statement mean? Your answer must reflect the whole meaning of its paragraph.

4.         Read page 25, paragraph 2, line 5. Read the sentence stating, “The statements in a novel…until…are not logical propositions.” What does this statement mean? Your answer must reflect the whole meaning of its paragraph.

5.         Read page 27, paragraph 4, line 9. Why is a literary work considered as a very complex organization?
