Final '98

Well, Malaysia lost in the final. The Indons had two strong doubles and we can only stand a chance if we could beat them in the singles. Unfortunately, Hock Kin lost to Hendrawan and that ended our hopes. Anyway, i'm not saying that it was Hock Kin's fault. Anyone who watched it will know how much he fought before losing. It was just a matter of luck, or experience perhaps. And many people had said that it was a very good tactic of the Indonesia to let Heryanto Arbi playing the first single and Hendrawan the second. Heryanto was injured and there was big possibility that he can't take over our first single, Ong Ewe Hock but the Indonesian decided to let him take the first singles. To them, they're confident in their two strong doubles and they need only another single to win the cup. If Hendrawan was to play the first single, the chance between him and Ewe Hock will be 50-50 and at the same time, Hock Kin is believed to be able to take over Heryanto which was not in fine condition. You understand what i mean? Hehe.. Anyway, although we lost it, we put the best performance and proved that we meant business in badminton scene and are not easy meat like some had said before this tournament.

We can only be happy with the first runner up ^_^

Ewe Hock after his win 18-14, 15-7 over Heryanto Arbi.
