I dreamed you had a dream of me, And as I dreamed this dream, I felt the hand of ecstasy, So good I thought I'd scream, And in your dream we had a kiss, A kiss that was so fine, A kiss I'm glad I didn't miss, Far sweeter than the wine, For there was wine that we did drink, Two bottles I recall, And all the time all I could think, Was how far I might fall, But not from cliffs just made of stone, I'm talking cliffs of love, And how I hoped we were alone, No watchers from above, The air was warm within your dream, The grass was damp with dew, And while I stroked your skin of cream, I thought about us two, About the walls we build to hold, And keep each other out, While wishing we were both more bold, The truth to talk about, That love may last a thousand years, Or love may last a day, But they who risk this veil of tears, Must put their fears away, And in this dream we knocked walls down, And laughed at all the mess, Then made love in the rubbled town, With loving tenderness, And that is why I cry these tears, I know 'twas but a dream, Though if I live a thousand years, I'll dream about your dream.
