Our leader for the next 2 days, Dr Jill Eyers, came over to the bar of the Cock Hotel, Heath & Reach to give a short illustrated talk on the geology we would be seeing, and in some cases like the Upper Greensand, not seeing. Jill produced some exquisite ammonites from the Gault that lies over the Lower Greensand, which she had literally tripped over in the sandpit, which gave some members of the party ideas that didn’t involve Sand!
