Gandalf in fine form to start the season.

DOM-LAND, Middle Earth— It felt like old times for the Dom-Land Caribou. Without missing a beat, the MEHA champions began the new season by continuing their winning ways, crushing the Moria Orcs 6-1.

Perhaps the 'Bou were inspired by the banner raising at the Merry-Go-Round...Rink...Thing Where A Penguin Plays the Banjo where a sold-out crowd screamed its guts out for the champions.

Pippin gave them something to scream about early in the first period when he slipped the puck between a Moria defender's legs and beat the Orc goalie stick side.

"Ooh! Coach Elrond told me if I did good this season, I could get a pet!" said a slightly over-animated Pippin at the post-game press conference. Apparently, the 'Bou right wing snuck out between periods and emptied half the Icee machine...into his mouth.

The overload of sugar and atomic pink food coloring caused Pippin to hurtle around the ice and fidget uncontrollably on the bench. He ended up getting two assists simply because the puck bounced off him.

"Don't think he even felt it," said Merry who scored off of one of those bounces. "Like a one-hobbit pinball, he was."

Boromir also took advantage of the bouncing Pippin to score on the backhand.

"Maybe we should do this every game," he speculated.

Gandalf was in top form turning away 27 Orc shots. The lone Moria goal came when Gandalf was momentarily distracted when a group of Legolas groupies flung themselves repeatedly against the glass.

"I think one of them girls knocked herself senseless," said an appalled Sam. "That's just not right."

Sam, well known for attacking the Witchking's knees, stayed out of the penalty box all evening and assisted on both Frodo and Strider's goals. Gimli scored late in the third period to make the rout complete.

The atmosphere in the locker room was jovial to say the least.

"They played splendidly," said head coach Elrond who refused to speculate on the expansion Eldar. "I don't have any inside information, even if their goalie is my mother in law."

In fact the locker room facilites in the Merry-Go-Round...Rink...Thing Where A Penguin Plays the Banjo have been expaned to include women's facilities in anticipation of female members of the two expansion teams. If the MEHA had been aware of the number of women on the Rohan Riders roster, it would have mandated the facilities sooner.

"Well, Eowyn used to use Bubbles' private washroom," said Legolas.

"How do you know where Eowyn changed suited up?" interruped Boromir.

"I'm non-threatening and own a variety of skin care products," was the reply. "Anyway, no one knew there were any female Rohan Riders besides Eowyn."

"It's the beards," explained Aragorn. "No one really knows why they do that."

Next up for the 'Bou is the new hobbit expansion team that has yet to be named. They're still voting.

Notes: The MEHA championship trophy is currently named Orlando's Bloomers. This was voted on by the fans last season. However, it appears that one person voted more than 2,000 times. Therefore, the MEHA has decided to put the trophy name to a vote again. Please do not vote more than 50 times total. Thank you for supporting the Middle Earth Hockey Assocaition!
