I have been keeping and breeding fish for almost 15 years now, but have only been keeping Endler's Livebearer since about 1998. I was not lucky enough to obtain wild Endler stock until 2000. I owe much thanks to a wonderful man named Armando. He was willing to share the wild Endlers which he collected from Venezuela with me several times. He is hoping, as am I that I can keep as many of the phenotypes alive and well so that people will be able to enjoy them for many years to come. The original Endler's collected by professor Endler, eventually ended up as a single phenotype and that is the coloration most commonly found in aquaculture. All of my wild stock Endlers are pure blooded. Unfortunately in 2002 I lost all of my endler collection to a mystery disease. I have not tried to replace them until now as I am afraid it will happen again (no medication worked against it the first time and other hobbyists have reported a disease with similar symptoms
However, I enjoy these fish too much not to try again. It is now 2009 and I will be obtaining some fish from Adrian HD to replace the fish that I used to have. Adrian has linebred wild endlers using fish received from Armando Pou. He has also created some beautiful pure strains by selectively breeding some of them. I am not selling endlers currently.(sorry!). It was horrible to lose all 1200 of my endlers and I admit I have not seriously tried to cultivate them again until now because I was worried about it happening again. Wish me luck that my endeavor will be successful and the Endlers will thrive this time.
