I
Wonder
I wonder what the
birds are doing today.
Are they feeding their little cute chicks?
I wonder what the birds are doing today.
I wonder what
they feed their chicks.
Do they feed them worms?
Or do they feed them bugs?
I wonder what the
birds are doing today.
I wonder how
they fly.
Do they fly with feathers?
Or do they fly with their wings?
I wonder what the
birds are doing today.

Burgers
I like
burgers with cheese
because it makes me sneeze.
I like burgers with a pickle
because it’s only a nickel.
I like burgers on the grill
when I am standing on a hill.
Burgers are so fun
don’t you wish you had one?
I like burgers all the time
because it’s only a dime.
Burgers Burgers all the time.
Don’t you think it’s a good rhyme?

Scrub-a-dub-dub
Scrub-a-dub-dub
see my sub
in my tub.
Scrub-a-dub-dub
see the bubbles

bubbles go
pop, pop, and
splash, splash.
Bubbles floating
in the air everywhere.

September Eleventh
The tragedy was
nine-eleven,
All the people who were there,
died and went to Heaven.
It was very tragic,
It happened...Poof! Like magic.
Everyone was very sad,
But what Saddam Hussein did
was very, very bad.
When it happened, it was a mystery,
But now it is history
And now we will remember
the eleventh of September.

The Beauty of Art
Art is so beautiful
It express the artist’s feeling and emotions
You see it everyday.
For the world is God’s masterpiece.
There are many forms of art.
From paintings.
To sculptures.
To mountainside faces.
Art is always
beautiful

Untitled
If I could help the world
I would believe in who couldn’t do it for themselves,
so they could be strong.
I would cry for the sad ones when they are out of tears,
and they’d feel better.
I would lift people who fell down in life,
so they can stand up straight someday.
I would love people who have no one,
so they’d see how to love themselves.
Anyone can feed the hungry,
but the spirit needs care too.

The Sun
The sun is bright
It lets us see
It gives us light
For you and me
The sun is very big
It is also wide
I wonder what it did
To get in the sky
The sun is super hot
It keeps us warm all day long
When I play on the lot
I am glad it is always on

The Wonderful Colors
Colors are
wonderful.
Colors are beautiful.
My favorite color is blue,
I hope you like it too.
They fill the world
with joy.
They are the world’s toy.
Without them we’d be sad,
We’d probably be mad.
Color is like
exploring
Black and white is boring.
There might be some you don’t like,
But colors are like flying kites.
Wherever you go,
If you are a boy or girl,
Colors will be there,
To fill your life with joy.

Instrument of Celestial Music
What is a violin?
A beautiful wooden
shaped instrument
that makes wonderful music
What do I hear?
Celestial music with
screeches at the beginning
getting better as I practice more
What do I smell?
The fragrant cedar wood
it was made with
The pine rosin that
makes my bow move smoothly
How do I feel?
Relaxed when I hear
the heavenly music
Happy when I hear
A faster, more enthusiastic rhythm
What do I taste?
Pride when playing well
joy when playing in
my school orchestra
What do I see?
The metal strings
the bows moving up and down
and the glowing faces
of the audience after a song
Why do I play?
To keep me relaxed
to keep me attached
to something beautiful
that opens my heart

Conscience
It’s a voice that
no one else can hear.
It can bring you happiness
It can bring you fear.
You can’t escape its powers,
so you shouldn’t even try.
It can make you
laugh,
or even cry.
You can’t avoid it,
it sends a chill down your spine.
But still you try to ignore it
and say you’re fine.
You smell the
bitterness
of a bad deed.
It can control your life
and if you let it,
it can take the lead.
It is like a
mosquito
buzzing in your ears.
You can taste the saltiness
of your falling tears.
It is the dark shadow
that follows you around.
You keep denying it
until you know what you’ve found.
You’ve found your conscience
and it lives inside your brain
and it is the one,
that is causing all the pain.

The snow flake that
made a mistake
He fell in warm El Paso and did not wake
He became a water drop and drained into a lake

A snow ball I cannot brake
Oh, for Heaven’s sake

Why did that silly snow flake
Make such a silly mistake?

Mine?
He sits and begs, he gives a paw,
He is, as you can see,
The finest dog you ever saw,
And he belongs to me.
He follows everywhere I go
And even when I swim.
I laugh because he thinks, you know,
That I belong to him.
But still no matter what we do
We never have a fuss;
And so I guess it must be true
That we belong to us.

Unconditional Love
The love I have for you
is more than one can say.
Just the thought of being with you
makes me tremble in a way.
I love your mind, your soul,
your heart.
I loved you uncontrollably
from the start.
But now that you have gone to fight,
I must think about you day and night.
I know you had to leave and go
but will you come back, I don’t know.

I have a young sister
She’s worse than a blister
All she does is cry
I’d rather listen to a fly
I tried to sell her today
Nobody bid for her on eBay

She’ll be very mean

but I will always love my sister

No one knows me
I sit amongst
a thousand noisy teens today,
but no one knows me.
No one knows my hopes and dreams
or when I will turn fourteen.
No one has asked me.
No one knows me.
No one knows my name
or where I live.
Oh, sure they know of my name,
but those noisy teens have
never shouted my name across
the cafeteria.
“Hey, R-------, come sit with us.”
They see my address, 5920,
but no they don’t know
where I live.
No one knows me.
They see kindness in my eyes
and take it as a sign
of weakness.
Beware, though, for
I am very strong
inside and out!
Who can blame them though?
They do not know this
since they have never
truly looked
at me.
No one knows me.
I have many gifts to gift
waiting to be given,
but no one has asked
for a gift.
No one knows me.

Hands
Hands show who you are
What you’ve done
And what you’ve been through
Hands can change the
way
You and other people feel and live
If there weren’t any hands
Nothing could wipe away the tears
Cradle your child
Caress someone you love
Cheer someone you love with applause
Clap, slap, clap
Or soothe a broken heart
Hands have the power and personality
To express the way you feel
They are like doves
In search for their goals and dreams
And can be very gentle and sweet to caress
They can also be as brave and violent
As a tiger’s claw, trying to protect
And save loved ones
Hands can see if you’re blind
Hands can speak if you’re mute
Hands can receive
Pray
And give thanks
They are YOU

Loneliness
I sit here
remembering days gone by,
And the first word that comes to mind is ”WHY”?
Why has my life
turned out with so much pain,
And the feeling of hopelessness—
Like being left out in the rain.
Remembering how
life was when I was a kid,
Wondering why dad did what he did.
I can remember the
sound of crying
In the middle of the night,
Knowing that mom and dad
Got into another fight.
I remember the day
he walked out the door,
And the feelings of pain and anger
Growing more and more and more.
Living with
different family members
Because my family had no home,
Those were the days I knew
I would be on my own.
Growing up and lost
in the world of sadness,
Asking God why...why...where is the happiness
Happiness that should be inside of me?

Blood In A Puddle
Six months have passed
one more to go
what can I do
I don’t have no one,
what to do, war is in session,
I go outside and see
the only thing that reminds me of you
that attractive red
that catches my eye in that puddle of red blood
that you left as that bullet trespassed your heart.
Mom and Dad I want to join you
should I obey your promise
I want to see you.
A bullet just crossed my heart Dad
Mom I see you
I missed you
What a place Mom
Dad I missed you
We’re now in heaven
Thank God.

A dog
A dog’s small
world is full of dreams,
Of full food bowls and scents unseen,
Of open fields and cozy chairs,
And, most of all, you standing there.
And when the end is
drawing near
And you are trying to stem your tear,
He licks your hand with happy sigh,
Content that you are standing by.
And when he reaches
Heaven’s Gate,
The Spirit says, “Come.” But your dog says, “Wait.
I have a friend I love so dear
And I can feel his footsteps near.”
Your lifetime’s
passed. Your near Heaven’s throne.
One happy glance, you’re not alone.
Your loving pet, so patient waits,
To pass with you through Heaven’s Gates.

Hold Me
Hold me,
wrap your arms around me
So I can feel your skin,
Softly caressing me,
As a blanket on a cold day.
Let me feel unconditional love,
A mother comforting her child
Because I am scared.
Hold me,
Be all around me
Everywhere
Feeling your soft breath
Hearing your presence.
Feeling security
I can shut my eyes,
Get away from this nightmare
One that’s been eating my soul,
Eternity,
Non Peace,
Taken away from an ugly picture,
Because it’s an awful sight.
Hold me,
Don’t let me go,
I don’t want to slip,
Falling faster forever in pitch blackness,
Falling toward nothing.
So hold me tighter,
To hear your heart,
Against your chest
Beating me a rhythm to sleep,
knowing your alive.
Hold me,
Rock me,
‘Til knocked into deep sleep,
Comfortable as a baby,
This cruel world,
Hits me in the stomach,
Every time I uncurl.
I’d like to leave,
Just be my crying shoulder,
So I can let my years of oceans out.
Gently
Back and forth,
Back and forth.
But things aren’t always there,
In the end,
When the “shows” over,
And the curtains drop,
No one will be there,
Everyone stuck in their own world,
Looked down upon as misfit,
Surrounded by darkness
Drowned by rain
What happened to happiness?
Suffocated in pain
That’s just the feeling I get,
When my eyes are shut,
Once open,
It feels like glass in my eyes
I have nowhere to go,
Runaway or hide,
As I feel the peoples hard stares,
Throwing bullets with their eyes
I did nothing wrong but be myself,
And I start to wonder why?
Can’t they let me be me?
Or AT LEAST
Shut up as I walk by?
But too much silence is scary,
Even in silence,
Echoes sound dry.
The only place to go,
The only place to flee,
Is the only place I know,
In your arms,
So please,
I beg,
HOLD ME.

Whispers
Whispers in the dark
realms
Mentions of things long past
Pains of the weak that have no remedy of cure
Echoes of freedoms that were never seen or heard
Whispers of old
forgotten dreams
Fires burning with passion of angry nothingness
Flames reflected in the eyes of those whose toil was in vain
Or not in vein, but with no reward and no reason given
Heats on fire waging a war not easily fought or won
Yet through the struggle tolerance is forged
Waves that crash upon
the land
Seldom makes more than ripples in the sand
Though, in the waves, are secrets yet untold
Waves bear bottles
That will wash on to land when tolerance becomes intolerable
Whispers in the
quiet realms
Are uproars of injustice long past
Pains of the weak are to be avenged
Echoes are shouts to those who have no voice
Whispers of dreams are not to be forgotten

Sunshine and Shadow
Green leaves shiver in the morning breeze,
Content with the world, and within at ease.
Lake’s little rivulets slap against the shore,
Giggling and bubbling, and then at peace once more.
Puffy clouds mingle in the a sky of sweet azure,
Dazzling in their brilliance, so white and clean and pure.
And twitting birds and children laugh and sing their silly songs,
Fantastically happy as they hop and skip along.
These are normal aspects of a perfect summer morn,
Through these, I see the beauty of the world just being born.
But their are darker aspects of the world we live in now,
Things our minds tuck far away, because they are so foul.
Things for which the stomach turns and eyes tear up with rage,
For damage done to innocents, in this sad, dark war we rage.
But through our world harbors the darkness, beauty still remains,
Manifested in a child’s laugh, or in a summer rain.
In the bustling rivers flowing, in the trees so high,
On majestic mountain peaks that reach up to the sky.
In this, life is like the world, and has its ups and downs,
So while some days are filled with smiles, some are full of frowns.
So remember when the darkness falls, and it is all you see,
That little rays of joy will rise for you eventually.
For, in this world of beauty, it cannot stay dark for long,
So until your world turns toward the sun, you must learn to be
strong.

and because you will be a survivor
This
poem is for you, Mom
because you will get over this terrible illness
and because I love you
This poem is for
you, Mom
because of all the things you’ve done for me
and for the many times I’ve angered you
This poem is for

because of all the problems I’ve caused you

This poem is for

because of “La bonne sante de ma mere”
and because I love you
This poem is for you,

because you’ll be with me for more than five years
This poem is for you, Mom

I Hate
I Hate the way
you care too much
And never leave
things be.
I hate the way
you make me laugh
At my
insecurity.
I hate the way
you accept me
Without a single
objection.
I hate the way
you keep me moving
In the right
direction.
I hate the way
you pay for me
Even if I say
“No.”
I hate the way
you won’t let me pay
Even if I
suggest we go.
I hate the way
you make me feel
Whenever you’re
around.
I hate the way I
hope it’s you
When the
telephone makes a sound.
I hate the way
you insist
That somewhere,
love is true.
But what I hate
you for most of all
Is making me
love you.

Find Another Way Out
Please listen for a minute just hear
My shout
Open your eyes and realize drugs aren’t
The way out
With drugs what is it
That you gain?
For I see nothing but sadness
Nothing but pain
What’s worse is why can’t you see?
You’re not just hurting yourself your also
Hurting me!
You want me by your side to stay
But first you need to change your ways
For now you have no true feelings
It’s drugs instead of love
So please just stop
And hear the way calling you

The Whispering Night
Tranquil butterflies glittering fireflies
whispering greens
translucent blue lilies
ethereal creatures
dragonflies flutter silver
wings
soft swans and silent fish
the water parts
and the enchantment curls
a duet of singing night air
warm trickles of droplets
willows encompassing
pale fingers fair
blue streams of veins
hair
of the night
fingers trailing
in the water
sweet ripples never to return
gaze and they part
forever
Return
again and again
vanish the world
listen to silent earth
the whispering night
sweetness
the parting ripples and then
transcend

Your Superiority
You! are cruel
You make liars out of men.
You bring me into your horrors and wrap me with painfulness.
Your industry lives like a wealthy thief!
And your goodness has died in the one I love.
You blinded him with your filthy shows and business
Oh, so flashy and pretty!
You! are a sluttish princess,
Who makes him intoxicated with love for you!
Vindictive coquette!
You know my simplicity cannot compare to you.
I will never hold the satisfaction
That you guarantee.
I have hated you before yet never begged your leave
But I do now...
I do on Friday nights that send me to bed weeping
And weekday events that leave me!
With no hand to hold.
You corrupt me,
You corrupt my dreams and fill me with anxiety.
How much longer will I envy your presence?
You continually make me look inferior,
And I continually hate you for it.
And Music,
You always, always win.

Summer’s Kiss
The gentle call of the sun’s smile acts as
The scented kiss that awakes my wondering.
My eyes, the jewels of the dreamed,
Leap into the rushing wind of this abandoned vineyard,
A sweet sensation of the shadowed vapor calms
My flashback to the grinning reality.
Here in the garden lies the elegant smell
That is forever sought. We wait
All winter for her appearance to send
Our hearts astray into this oblivion
The rain is the scent of her essence,
And is the notice that warns
Us of the honeysuckle on its way.
She is here, but with her comes the pesky
Mosquito, the feeble insect that broke
The present freshness in the air.
It is then that I begin to understand the
Truth behind the woman’s beauty.
I’m left picturing eternity
In yesterday’s perfume.

Green River Dragon
Chinese dreams,
floating down the Yangtze,
willow raft,
willing self,
eating fried rice on deck,
decorated chopsticks,
silk canvas,
pole dragging on river reeds,
koi fish darting by,
lonely fisherman watches
sitting by rocks on the bank,
clouds well up,
dragon’s breath,
paper lanterns lighting in bamboo glades,
crickets chirping,
murky depths absorbing dusk,
night has fallen on the Yangtze...
green river dragon devoured the sun.

The Sun is Shinning in My Eyes
Into this new world I come alone, screaming and cold.
Placed into a stranger’s warm and gentle arms,
A blurry image swims in front of me.
Soft cooing voice comforts and quiets.
Unhindered love seeps into my heart.
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
Taking my first steps across the cool grass.
My parents watching me with pride.
Waiting with outstretched arms and laughter tracing their voices,
Embracing me in a tight hug when I reach them.
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
Third place in the spelling bee.
Applause echoing in my ears.
Staring down from the stage,
Mommy blows me a kiss.
See my Daddy grin behind the camcorder.
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
Behind the wheel of my Dad’s Ford.
Driving on the freeway, beads of sweat form on Dad’s forehead.
Pulling into our driveway, he thanks God we arrived unharmed.
Rolling his eyes, he tells Mom it’s her turn now.
Climbing out after him, thinking I drove quite well,
Light in heart, I follow.
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
Eighteenth birthday is dawning.
The air is thick, clouding with tension.
Sitting around the conference table in the kitchen
An important matter must be discussed
I sit down, instinctively knowing something must be wrong.
Tears glisten in my Mother’s eyes, her smile wobbly.
Dad’s voice is rough and raspy, “WE have something to tell you.”
His hand covers mine.
A sinking feeling in my stomach,
My heart caught in my throat,
As I wait for a bomb to drop.
“You are adopted.”
Thundering truth making it hard for me to see, yet,
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
My breath is blown away,
My heart in fragments.
Blood drains out of my face, leaving it stark and pale.
My mouth opens, emitting no sound.
Distant sounds of sobbing and rambling come from my Mother.
“You will always be our daughter, never forget that,” urgency colors
her voice.
Tears rain down her cheeks.
“But...you can go find your biological mother if you wish.”
Afraid of losing their daughter to a stranger, damming up their
emotions.
My beloved Mother’s face buried in her Kleenex.
Father’s eyes wet but reassuring and thoughtful.
The sun is shinning in my eyes.
Gazing at these two very special people in my life,
Seeing rainbows in the distance,
Realizing all that I have,
Is all I want.
“I don’t need to know,” I whispered when I found my voice.
Joining each other in a family hug,
Letting love blind all doubts and fears.
I welcomed the sun is shinning in my eyes.

No quedas tan lastimadito.
Un jugador de fútbol
yo quiero ser
Metiendo goles he de crecer
Y cuando yo sea grande
Con las Chivas yo jugaré.
En el fútbol se usan
tacos
Los guantes, sólo el portero.
Para protección coderas
Y también espinilleras.
Un buen jugador le
tira
Directo a la portería
Porque la meta en el futból
Es meter un gol.

La Amistad
Somos tres amigos
que andamos por el camino,
pensando qué hacemos en este mundo
tan profundo.

falda verde, color esmeralda.

me pongo cuado te acercas

A
Ti...
proteges...
mejor...
A ti, hermano mío, porque me has ayudado a
comprender las cosas...
A todos ustedes mi familia, porque me
comprenden, me ayudan y me demuestran
“maravillosa”.

Por Qué Te Fuiste
De niña no aprecié,
Tus regaños y consejos,
Y nunca yo te dije,
Lo mucho que te quiero.
Y hoy que no te tengo,
Extraño tus consejos,
Por eso a Dios le ruego,
Que vuelvas de regreso.
Ahora sólo puedo llorar,
Porque te fuiste lejos,
Y solo puedo llevarte flores,
al cementerio.

Papá
Gracias papá
por brindarme
confianza y
darme libertad.
Por hacerme un
buen hijo, y por ayudarme
a decretar los conflictos
de la mejor manera.
Gracias, papá,
por enseñarme
a apreciar la vida
y a encontrar la
felicidad en todo lo
que se presente
en mi camino.

Eres tú
Eres tú
A ti te quiero
A ti te busco
Y a ti te ancontraré

A
mi madre
Madre tan buena y
comprensiva
Madre tan amable y divertida
Y aunque no siempre estés jovencita
Yo siempre te recordaré
Como mi bella y linda madrecita

Mi clase de español
A mi clase de español
la quiero con todo mi corazón.
Mis amigos y yo,
armamos un gran reventón.
La maestra es estrícta,
y nos calma con su miradita.
Todos sabemos que hay que estudiar,
no perdemos tiempo

Muerte,
ya sé que me quieres llevar.
Llévame si quieres,
pero me voy a escapar.
No es por ofenderte,
pero estás demente.
No me has podido llevar,
porque soy inteligente.
Muerte,

Fuera elegancias y tontas etiquetas,

mejor voy a dormir
