Who Was that? - Part II

***The following story is true, well... might be true.. at least in ones head it could be true and some of the facts changed around... or could be based on true situations and experiences, or at least someone thinks they are based on true situations and experiences.. or it could all be just make believe... well, whatever.****

One beautiful summer evening, me and my super big manly warm-blood horse named Buttercup Tootsie foot were taking a walk in the Blueridge mountains. The most exhilarating and most beautiful scenery one could ever be around. The sky was so blue, the air was so fresh, there was a constant breeze blowing... the kind of breeze that you can close your eyes and relax. Relax .. relax ... relax.... Let your body levitate over the mountain and climb high in the sky.
Coming over hills you could see the deer, not more than 100 feet away. The deer turn around and stare, one... two... three.... Four deer stood still, staring at us, you could see their mouths stop chewing the grass as we got closer.

"Hello there Deer!!!", I say.

Off they run into the woods with their tails held high, like little cotton tail rabbits bouncing around. I reach down and slowly rub Buttercup's neck... "Good boy.. the most wonderful boy around.. yes you are."

Walking along the creek, we reach the point of where I would like to cross, at the base of one of the mountains. In order to get to the top of that mountain, we will have to cross the creek. Nice clear water, slow trickle running over the rocks. I could pretty much see the bottom all the way across.
Since I am riding bareback, there is nothing to get wet but Buttercup and my feet. Not a problem, I will just lie lengthwise on his back and enjoy the ride.
Buttercup takes his first few steps.... UuUUUUuuuu.. cold.
He stands still for a few minutes getting adjusted to the cool mountain water. I just lie still with my head resting on his withers. Buttercup leans over and sips some water.... Oh my, talk about changing of the balances. My legs widen and get a better grip and my hands reach around the barrel of his chest. As I look down, all I see is the fuzzy crest of his mane. No head... no ears... just a quick slide down if my boy decided to get a funny feeling and kick out.
It has happened before, and could happen again. The one day that I was talking to much about not being wet, and he slides me right down his neck, head first, into the water. Buttercup turns his head sideways and looks at me with that big dark left eye of his. Looking at me with that intent.
"I don't think so big boy, not today.", I say.
Buttercup stuck his nose in the water and swished it back and forth with enough force to sprinkle me a bit, lifted his head way up and drooled the water right down his neck in attempt to create a flow of water to me.
Didn't work.

We finally cross the creek and begin our journey uphill. Buttercup starts getting a bit giddy as we go up the hill, I know exactly what he wants. He wants to go as fast as he can up the mountain, but is hesitating until I tell him its ok.

"Ok... go for it.".
I give him a slight tap in the side with my heels and ease up on the reins and he takes off. Leaning forward and I have my bare feet buried in his flank just in front of his stifle so I don't slide off, and let me tell you... riding bareback uphill with no support, going full throttle will send me sailing off the rear reaching for tail, not a funny sight.
The shear power flying up that mountain, the breeze in my face and the adrenaline rush just does it everytime for me. And I know it does it for Buttercup too.

The sun is going down and shadows start to cast in the valleys, the only light now is visible only from on top. The sky turns from a deep blue to a deep red as the sun slowly buries itself behind the West mountains. The moon is visible in the south east, and somewhat of an opaque look to it. The stars begin to emerge from the once brightly lit sky. The temperature is somewhere around 80 degrees and I feel like spending the night up here.
There is enough grazing grass, and I have a portion of feed in my backpack for the boy. I turn on my back and look up at the stars as Buttercup grazes during the night. It's a wonder I did not fall off, but I suppose after doing this a few times before I have developed a little bit of balance. But this will be the first night I have ever slept on mountain top with my boy.

So peaceful, so nice. Not a bug or mosquito anywhere up here. Kinda chilly with that breeze blowing constantly, but the warmth from Buttercup keeps me comfortable all night long.
A couple hours later Buttercup lifts his head up and starts to nicker. Ears are concentrated forward, I take a look from around his neck and ask him what he sees. I don't see anything. But im sure something is out there. He does not seem scared, its almost like he is a bit excited.
I hear now, aahhhhh.... Another horse. And a very beautiful one at that. This horse comes up and stands inches from Buttercup, both taking deep breaths. The horse then comes around and starts to sniff me.
"Hi there beautiful, what brings you here?".
She takes a deep breath and sighs. She then begins to graze, slowly whisking her tail around. A very beautiful solid white color. Cute pink nose and blue eyes. Her mane just flows in the wind, and very silky looking. This girl is very well kept and very clean. I can even smell the hint of a nice shampoo or conditioner.
Someone has recently bathed her. That's what Buttercup needs. Buttercup stands perfectly still, and for the next hour he does not even move or take his eye off of her. I guess not, I don't blame him.... She is a babe.
Not to long after that I hear in the distance... "Lady.... Laaaaaady"
I wonder if this girl's name is Lady? Hmmmm....
She sure is elegant looking in the moonlight. In a few minutes later, a lady appears.

"Hi there", I say.

"Hi back at ya", she says.

"I'm Dean, I guess this beautiful girl is yours?", I say

"Yes she is, her name is Lady, and I am Burshwitznez", she say's

"Ahhh, interesting name.", I say.

"Would you like a Juicy Juice?", she asks..

"What flavor?", I ask

"Does it really matter?, She asks

"No, I was just curious", I say

"Its Apple Grape", she says

I hop off Buttercup and reach for the sip pak, Burshwitznez takes it away really quick and asks what the secret password.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa???", I say

"The secret password... what is the secret password?", she kept on saying.
I looked at her funny and then curiously asked, "Please?".
She hands me the drink and I pop the straw in and start drinking. MMmmm MMmm. Good stuff.

"Juicy Juice is the Juicier Juice", She says

"Uhhhh, Yup... sure is. Eh... want some sweet feed?", I ask?

Heck, I did not have anything else to offer... so what the hay. She says, "yes". I giggle.

"Yes I said.... Im famished!", she says.

OOOooooK. I reach in my backpack and grab a handful of feed and hand it to her, she cups my hand and starts to eat the feed, and she did not even miss a grain. I watched as she groveled and made slurping sounds. I started to think to myself... this girl is one weird girl. I look over at Buttercup and he is still fixated on Lady.
Burshwitznez takes her last lick and stands close to me, only inches from my face she looks deep into my eyes, almost a calming stare, but yet..... I was confused of what just happened. She burps real loud and says thank you very much in a whispering voice. Burshwitznez moves over to Lady and hops on and starts to leave.

"Hey!! Are you leaving?", I ask

"Yep, have a good one. Next time... bring better feed", She says.
And then she and Lady disappear thru the muddy part of the mountain.

That morning as the sun started to rise, I opened my eyes to see the wonderful blue sky. I look down from Buttercup and wipe the drool from my face. I hop down and look into the opened backpack. From what I gather, good 'ol Buttercup helped himself to the feed. Wasn't much.. just a handful. Hmmmm, Just enough for some weird girl to eat. I sniff my hands... no sign of feed smell. I look around and I do not see any other hoof marks, not even on the dirt and mud slope from where the white horse came from, in which... there would be no way they could have gone that way, there is a straight down cliff with jagged edges.
No way. I checked around the full way just in case I was confused of which way they came. Nope, only one way up, one way down. Obviously this was another case of my over-active dreams. I get up on Buttercup and we start downhill to go home.

Buttercup and I get home and I take his bridle off, set it aside and give him a quick grooming. A big hug and kiss on the nose and I walked inside.

As I started to clean the bridle, I noticed that on the bit buckle there was some white hair caught in the latch. This is not any hair of Buttercups, not at all. How odd....
As I sat down in the chair and stared at the wall for the rest of the night......

......... not the end
