Climbing at Mt. Lemmon

Looking southwest from Windy Point, Mt. Lemmon. Tucson is in the valley behind the mountains. The small hump, way in the distance, slightly to the right of center along the horizon, is Kitt Peak National Observatory, about 75 miles downrange.

LEFT: Me, in 1991, on my first rock climb ever. (5.6 ?) RIGHT: Deranged of Late (5.8)

I enrolled in a climbing instruction class in 1991, and after 2 days of rope training and lecture, we went to Mt. Lemmon to practice. That's how I got the bug. Three years later, I returned to Tucson for spring break, and climbed with my friend Lisa around Windy Point. There we set up Space Cowboy (5.9) (not shown) and Deranged of Late (5.8).
