A beautiful, but extremely noisy visitor we do not encourage. But one who could not care less whether he is welcome or not.
This is Maggie Magpie
Morning, lunchtime, evening and sometimes during the day she will use ESP on me while sitting in front of the window and the message of: "Hurry up, the kids are hungry, I need some food" comes through loud and clear. Once her babies have learned to fly, she will introduce them and will feed them one by one. The one who begs the loudest, will be first. But somehow she always manages that they all get a good feed. However, once the kids commence looking for food on their own, she will chastise them if they dare to touch any of the food I throw to her until she gives them the ok. The cheeky one who just tried it quickly without her approval will be thrown on his back and stamped upon his tummy. Really weird, but it surely works. I wonder if this sort of upbringing would be goods for our kids? Those young magpies surely respect their parents. |

This is a noisy miner. He definitely is noisy with a wide variety of calls. Very cute and also lets you know when he thinks it should be feeding time. |

The Butcherbird has a fantastic repertoire of songs. I haven't quite figured out who is mum and who is dad. One of them is far tamer than the other one and judging from the lovely fluffy feathers it could be the female, but then you never know! One of them sings like mad to get our attention and after getting his food will fly to the closest tree and deposit his offering on a branch and calls for his/her mate that dinner is served. This year is the first time they brought their young one.
