Though we do have MP3s on this website and endorse Napster, we don't really believe it's right to download full albums of bands you like off the internet without buying the CD. Buying the CD sponsors that artist to make more of your favourite tunes! All of the licensed MP3s we provide on this webpage, we own the albums of. But we also recognise that many of the bands we mention are not so easy to come by in certain places on the globe, such as many J-pop CDs. Well, we aren't in located in Japan, and none of our members are. There are a few places, however, on the internet that we trust in ordering our stuff, and we always get it for reasonable prices. Look below to see where we get a lot of our stuff:

Trading lists.

We are members of a number of trading lists, and from people on those lists who might be in areas in which the music is more acessible we can buy our stuff. Try Yahoo Groups for some band-spcific groups you can join. The problem is, this is the least reliable of the solutions, since not only is the post unreliable, but not everyone is as honest as you are, and there's really no way to tell who you're dealing with.

E-bay and online Bidding.

Ah, E-bay. An easy addiction. This is like a trading list, except little bargaining and more competition, and you don't deal with your provider directly until after the price has been set. It's also often used merchandise, and you never know what condition the stuff is REALLY in unless it's claimed as "unopened", and won't find out until you get it. In addition to that, there's a time limit on how long you have to pay before you might be banned from the bidding. Try E-bay! Try J-fan!

Online buying

This is by far the most reliable source of music we've found. The problem is, it's also the most expensive. The places that sell these international tracks have to pay taxes and international shipping stuff, which you end up paying for, too. Also, they often expect you to pay with credit card, and some people don't have them or are reluctant to use them online. These are some providers we've gone through that have given us positive results:

Tower Records
J-pop Help

List will be completed when we receive the next CD order, then we'll tell ya!

Now, in order to order from any of these places, we do recommend you do the following things:

(1) get a re-routing E-mail address. This is to sign up for places like E-bay and other services, so all advertising junk-mail won't go into your main account and you don't have to deal with it. You will, however, have to check this occasionally for updates on your orders and bids. Check it at least once a week to be sure.

(2) Check with others to find the most reliable sources. As a group, Clockwork Blue has been investigating the online acquiring of merchandise, but if you can, check with other people to see if you can get better deals elsewhere.

(3) Get over your credit card fear. This doesn't apply to everyone. Some of you don't have cards! But ordering online is a lot safer than you think, and the stories on Oprah and in Reader's Digest are always dramatized. The friend of a friend syndrome won't get ya. But remember! Be cautious, and don't overspend. It's easy to buy when you don't see the money leaving your hand.

Have fun with your music acquisition endeavors!!

I'm kind of pissed off about the pop-up box, but so far they're still the best provider we've found.
