There is one sure thing about Hitler: we will never be certain of what exactly he did and what reasons he had for doing it.  However,  most people will agree that he was a really interesting guy.

This is a very short summary of his life....

Hitler was born in Austria in April, 20th, 1889 as a normal kid.  Hitler's father (Alois Hitler)was believed he was born from a maid who worked in a Jewish home.  This inspired the rumor that Hitler had some Jewish blood.   However, there are no records of the supposed Jewish family where Alois' mother had worked.  Alois was originally registered as Alois Schickelgruber (the mother's name was Maria Anna Schickelgruber).  Later on, the register was changed to Alois Hitler.   Alois married several times. One of the marriages was to Klara Poelzl, his niece and the mother of Hitler.  Alois was very strict and had a bad temper.   He lacked a sense of humor, like it's been said of Hitler himself.  Alois didn't allow his children to speak unless they were told to do so, and he didn't tolerate that they would talk back either.  Something Hitler didn't tolerate as an adult.    Alois used to beat up his children, as well as the dog and his wife.   Hitler both admired his father (for his work and his efficiency) and disliked him for the way he treated him.  Hitler was very attached to his mom (Klara Poelz Hitler). Hitler was a very demanding child and she responded to his demands, maybe to respond to a sense of guilt she had for her relationship with Alois and for the loss of her other children.  Hitler had a bigger than usual love for her mother, but at the same time, he seemed to also despise her. It is believed that Hitler blamed his mother for his having just one testicle, which would affect his behavior as a child and as an adult.  After her death in Xmas Hitler was devastated and it may be for this reason that he didn't like Xmas celebrations.   Klara died of breast cancer and had been treated by a Jewish doctor, to which Hitler was thankful, but it is also believed that, unconsciously he would blame him for her death.  Hitler cried only twice, once when his mother dies and once when Germany was defeated in 1918.

Hitler had a strong sense of fatherland and was eager and proud to fight for Germany in WWI.  He was a brave soldier and he survived the war while most soldiers around him died.  He interpreted this as a specia protection from God and with time, thought God had protected him because he had a special mission : To save Germany from its enemies and to bring Germany to be the master society in the world.

After Germany lost WWI, there were many rumors aroung Germany about why the war had been lost.  The soldiers at the front were convinced Germany would win, but then Germany surrendered. After the war Germany was forced to pay reparation costs, take all the guilt for the war, and prices were raising everyday to the point that most families lost all of  their savings.  Germany had gone from being one step away from winning WWI to a desperate situation of shame, humiliation and hunger.  Somebody had to be blamed and the Jews, who had never been popular, got the part.

There are many papers explaining why Germans thought the Jews were guilty for Germany's defeat, but there are also many against this theory.   The truth is, around that time Jews were not liked and Hitler was affected by it like everybody else.  See some persons that influenced Hitler here.

Hitler was an excellent spokes person, and this, combined with his amazing will and strenght, brought him to become the chancellor of Germany, to later become the fuehrer.  On his way to the top he relied heavily on Reinhard Heydrich, the brain behind all important moves (know him in Heydrich and Wannsee).

Hitler suffered a few terrorist attacks and a few accidents, but he always managed to escape and this made him even a firmer believer on his purpose on Earth, to be the one that the providence chose to save Europe.

There is not a single document proving that Hitler knew about the problems in the concentration camps, and nobody can prove either whether he had a plan to exterminate the Jews.  His name didn't appear in the Wannsee Conference.  It is logical to believe that he was aware of everything that happened in the Reich, but there is no proof.

When the Russian army took Berlin and the war ended, Hitler killed himself to avoid being captured by the enemies, thus taking away from them the pleasure to question him in trial and to sentence him to death by hunging or whatever.
