About emeralds...
The emerald belongs to the berilium family, and is considered the most noble within the group.
Its couloring substance is chrome.
Only rare and fine qualities samples are transparent. It is common for emeralds to appear with inclusions (fluids, air bubbles, other cristals, etc.), also called as "gardens". These inclusions are not considered as defects, unless they are abbundant, nevertheless proofs the authenticy of emeralds, distinguishing the genuine ones from synthetics and imitations.
A deep green stone with inclusions is more valuable than a pale and quite pure emerald.
Due to its sensibility, a specific cut was developped for emeralds ( the "emerald cut"), where the four acute angles were cut and facetaded.
In Brazil emerald exploration is mostly done at Bahia, Minas Gerais and Goiás.
