"Sixty-four degrees Kelvin..." I managed to stammer as I stared in abject terror at the Pokedex screen. "That's cold enough to kill anything on the planet... oh my God. BEHEMOTH!!!! BRACE YOURSELF!" My Snorlax suddenly realized what was going to happen and hunched over in a massive ball of blubber. Would that be enough to buffer the attack?! I slowly lifted my eyes off the grim news in my hand and returned my frightened gaze to Articuno, still hovering silently in the air. I'm almost never afraid. Of anything. The things I've seen in my life have made me resilient to fear. Yet...this was one of the most undeniably paralyzing experiences ever. I felt, before I saw, the attack.

Articuno beat the air once with a massive wing flap, then quickly thrust its head forward and executed the Ice Beam attack. The blast of destruction that emanated from the creature was composed simply of super-chilled air and ice crystals, but looked like a liquid, flowing blue beam. Behemoth was struck squarely on the chest. The wave washed over him, leaving his seven-foot body encased in a sarcophagus of ice. The sheath of ice crackled and popped around him as it froze solid. Every last one of his ugly features was concealed by the frigid prison. Behemoth was frozen, and hadn't even had time to scream.

I inhaled so sharply from the shock that I felt a searing, stabbing pain in my chest. Ice particles were forming in my lungs, and I knew I had to stay conscious to live. The scary part is that the attack happened fifty feet away.

I looked around me and saw Tech and Hunter gasping for breath. We're screwed, I thought. Behemoth can't even move, let alone fight. I started rummaging around in my backpack, desperate for a Freeze Heal. My hand grasped Super Potions, TMs, and a Rare Candy or two, but came up empty-handed. No Freeze Heals. Not even a damn Full Heal! We're screwed.

Hunter coughed heavily and beckoned to me. "Neil, man, I think we're..." He coughed again. "I think we're in too deep here...let's get the hell out!"

I could only stare at Hunter, completely unsure of what to do. I refused to back down now. We'd been through too much, lost too much to quit. But WHAT to do?! We needed to act quickly, as Articuno was circling ominously overhead. Tech broke the silence. "Neil, dammit, call him back! What are you doing?!" I kept searching for a Freeze Heal, but finally had to acknowledge that I didn't have any left. As I withdrew my hand, it brushed something that felt like a Pokeball.

I shouted out in frustration as I recalled my Snorlax. "Behemoth, return!" I made the decision. It was risky, but... "Leviathan, GO!!!!" My Gyarados lunged out of its Ultra Ball and slid across the ice to the battlefield. It squared off against Articuno and unleashed its unearthly wail, one of the most chilling sounds known to man. Articuno answered back with a shrill, haunting shriek. The fight was on.
