Articuno was already in mid-flight toward Behemoth and began gracefully dodging the ice lances, banking and weaving from side to side. Only one or two small ones impacted its six foot frame...a fact that astounded me.

"Dammit!" I shouted. "He's dodged most of the ice!" Articuno hovered in mid-air while the last of the ice bombs crashed to the floor. I was truly shocked at how different the bird looked from the proposed bust in my Pokedex. It was more graceful and eagle-like than anyone had expected. Articuno stared directly at Behemoth and seemed to be moving in slow motion. I looked on with horror as the three long crystals on its head began to glow a deep blue, and the moisture in the air surrounding them froze and shone white. I knew what was coming, what this was, but I couldn't do anything about it. Now was as good a time as any to analyze its attack and those crests. "Pokedex, what's it doing?" I asked as I withdrew the computer device with a shaky, cold hand. It responded.

[ICE BEAM] [A strong Ice attack.] [SCANNING...] [Scan complete.] [Articuno draws all the heat from the surrounding air into the three crystals on its head. The crystals have an unusual internal structure. The crests are similar to superconductors. Articuno can then redirect the super-freezing air at a target, usually rendering it incapacitated. Projected temperature of attack: 64 degrees Kelvin.]
