Cross-sectional views three corridors in Pit No. 1 The First Emperors entourage was discovered by chance in March 1974 in the course of digging a well. Fragments of terracotta warriors and horses were unearthed. The area, presently termed as Pit No.1 was placed under the protection of the Central Governments Bureau of Historical Relics.
