What
is CalWORKs
CalWORKs stands for California Work Opportunity
and Responsibililty to Kids and is California's name
for the federal "welfare reform" act that replaced Aid
to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). The CalWORKs program
at City College of San Francisco provides education, training and
support services. It links students to employment opportunities
related to the specific employment goals. Students receive assessment,
services, counseling, assistance with textbook purchases, transportation
and access to campus based childcare.
City College of San Francisco is committed to training tomorrow's
workforce. City College CalWORKs students are committed to becoming
self-sefficient. These students recognize the need to gain training
and education to meet this goal. They look forward to successfully
completing their course of study at City College and to the opportunity
to prove themselves as capable workforce participants.
