Breeding

A breeding pond for Arowana.

The fish started to breed naturally when they above 5 years old. The F1 offspring are selected in term of body shape, coloration as well as better growth rate and performance. The selected fish is placed in separate earthen pond to be raised up as future f1 brood stocks.

The ponds are covered with netting to prevent birds from entering.

All the ponds are equipped with separate inlet and outlet fitted with screens to prevent feral release.

Harvesting process by professional breeder.

The breeding technique practiced by the farm starts with development of broodstocks. The adults are fed with live feed such as Guppy, Freshwater prawn, gold fish, crickets etc. and allowed the mature fish breed naturally. Observation of the ponds are made daily at regular intervals.

The presence of brooding males is observed by their continued presence at the water surface with bulging mouth.

Look! Gamettes with 1/2 inch baby fish attached and they need about 4 weeks from free swimming.
