Types of Arowana |
The Asian Arowana (Scleropages Formosus) or also known as the `Dragon Fish', has been regarded as one of the Kings in Aquatic World due to its immense popularity, value and great looks. There are basically 4 different natural occurring color varieties for Asian Arowanas, namely Cross Back Golden from West Malaysia, Super Red from Indonesia's West Kalimantan, Red Tail Golden from Indonesia Pekanbaru and the Green variety, which can be found in rivers of Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand. Due to its popularity and great demand, Asian Arowanas have been popular in ornamental fish industry since seventies especially among Chinese community. |
![]() Malaysian Golden Asian Arowana | This is found in Malaysia and is the 1st of the two Asian Arowanas under the Gold Variety. It is called Crossback because it's gold shine on the scale will "Cross it's Back" when adult hence called "Crossback". The scales may have different base color such as gold, silver or blue. Blue is the rarest of all. This is the most expensive Arowana so far. |
![]() Red Asian Arowana Fish | Red Arowana is also one of the more popular fish among Asian Arowanas, largely because of their auspicious color and more affordable prices as compared to Cross Back Golden. There are basically four varieties of Red Arowanas namely Blood Red, Chili Red, Orange Red and Golden Red but the favorites and sought after are either Blood or Chili Red. Others ArowanaGreen Asian Arowana is considered the lowest grade of the Asian Arowana and is found in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. It scales are silvery-white to white color with slightly green fins . It is also the cheapest of the Asian Arowana but it still have a quantity of a fine Arowana . |
