What is Write On Magazine?Write On Magazine is a free Florida-based electronic literary magazine designed to promote the work of writers and aspiring writers from all over the world. Each month we will present a selection of the world's finest works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Regular features include a monthly mystery writing contest, interviews with top Florida authors, news of writers groups, conferences and events, E-Mail exchange section where writers can correspond with others to share information and arrange interviews, and numerous links to resource sites for writers and journalists. We also offer The Book Mart, where, for a nominal fee, authors can market their books to millions on the World Wide Web. E-mail us or write for more information and a listing of our advertising rates.What are the objectives of Write On Magazine?Our goal is to share with our readers worldwide some of the finest works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry written by people from all walks of life and cultures. Our focus is also to showcase the work of new authors each month and provide an extensive listing of resources and online publications for our readers to conveniently access and enjoy. Our objective is also to give Florida writers organizations a presence on the World Wide Web. We want to make our site as informative and useful as possible and encourage our readers' feedback and ideas.Is your publication just for Florida residents?No, we encourage readers and writers from all over the country and the world to visit our web site and submit articles, art work and information to Write On Magazine. We would like to include announcements about writing conferences, workshops, writers' web sites and events from around the globe. Although we feature a Celebrity Author Spotlight page for Florida authors, we will be interviewing and writing about authors of all genres from across the nation and around the world.Do I have to pay for a subscription or is the magazine free?Write On Magazine is a free electronic publication. We hope, in the future, to be able to offer a hard-copy version by subscription.How can I get published in your online publication?We welcome submissions of short fiction, non-fiction and poetry from both beginning authors and professionals along with high quality photographs and original artwork. Manuscripts must be the sender's own creation and must be in good taste, suitable for young readers and writers. Send submissions to Write On Magazine, P.O. Box 3039, Spring Hill, FL 34611-0960. A color or b/w headshot and short bio of the author is requested. You also can send manuscripts via e-mail to: editor@writeonmag.com (please use the word "submission" in the subject line) and include full name, address, telephone number and fax. When using e-mail, the information must be copied into the body of the e-mail, NOT submitted as an attachment. Deadline is the 15th of each month.We will consider as many as four poems per month from the same writer. Fiction and non-fiction should be no more than 1,500 words in length. We will accept up to four photos/art per submission; all must include name, address, phone and typed cutline attached to the reverse of each image. Copyright of all published work remains with the author/artist. The editors reserve the right to reject any submissions. Material that cannot be used will be returned only if the sender includes a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. Although Write On Magazine does not offer payment for publication, the author will receive worldwide internet exposure, and the work will remain online for a period of up to five months (one month in the current magazine and the remaining period in the back issues.) Mail submissions should include a 3 1/2-inch floppy disk with a clean hard copy (preferably laser printed). All files on disk should be converted to ASCII text, along with the original version created in your word processor application. Specify whether the disk is PC or Mac and the name of your software. Make sure to label the disk and all pages of your printed manuscripts with your name, phone number, fax, e-mail and address. Writers are invited to submit to Off the Beaten Path by addressing manuscripts to Nell Woodcock, Associate Editor, Write On Magazine, P.O. Box 3039, Spring Hill, FL 34611-0960. Stories should be about Florida lore and out-of-the way places in the Sunshine State. Photographs and original art are welcome. Again, SASE required for the return of materials. Submissions to A Mouse Tale should be addressed to Jeannie Fredrick, Associate Editor, Write On Magazine, P.O. A Mouse Tale is a progressive novel started by Fredrick, with each subsequent chapter written by one of our readers. Publication plus prizes are offered in this division each month. A copy of our submission guidelines are listed in Write On Magazine. Do you accept slides?No we do not accept slides, because we do not have a slide scanner at this time; however we suggest that you have your slides copied to Photo CD format for as little as $1.50 each. We recommend Presto Photo in Clearwater (813) 593-5536. If you send us your Photo CD, please include sufficient postage so that we can return the Photo CD to you promptly.Can I send photos and artwork via e-mail?Only with prior approval to ensure that we are able to decompress and open your art in Adobe Photoshop with a minimum of data loss.Do I need to send in a query first?A query is not required unless you are submitting art work electronically, have an unusually long article or poem, or have questions about suitability for publication.Do you pay contributors?No, at this time we are unable to pay our writers, due to considerable start-up costs of the web site. We do, however, offer our writers the chance for worldwide exposure. In the future as our publication grows, it is our intent to offer payment for submissions.Why advertise on the internet?Two reasons are low cost and volume of users. For those who are trying to reach a national and worldwide audience, the internet offers the most cost-effective type of advertising of any media. The internet is the fastest growing market in the world, with the number of users doubling in size each year for the past six years. It is estimated that between 30 million and 50 million people are currently using the information superhighway. According to demographic surveys, the average internet user has an annual income of $50,000 to $60,000, is likely to be married and have a family.How do I advertise my book or magazine in your Book Mart?We offer a number of payment options that consist of a $35 one-time set-up charge and a monthly fee ranging from $25 per month to as low as $10 per month with a one-year agreement. Your first chapter can also be displayed online at a price of $2 per page, up to 20 pages. For a limited time, the first chapter will be available free with a one-year agreement.Please write for an agreement form which must be signed and returned with your check made payable to Lieb-Manak Publications and a copy of your book or magazine along with your 350-word book description, short bio, color or b/w head shot, first chapter if desired and ordering information for the book. Include the cost of the book and the address where order requests can be sent. Mail to: Write On Magazine, P.O. Box 3039, Spring Hill, FL 34611-0960. Will you take a percentage of the sales of my books?No, we do not ask for a percentage of book sales. All transactions are handled directly between the customer and the author. All we ask is that the author respond promptly to inquiries and make shipment on orders in a timely fashion. We request that book buyers and sellers let us know if they have any difficulties or concerns.Are there any other charges down the road?No, the above charges represent the entire cost. There are no other fees for advertising in The Book Mart. Once our web site is established we will charge for placing the first chapter online, but for now we include it free with a one-year agreement. We do not intend to charge authors for a percentage of their book sales.Can I have my first chapter placed online?Yes, and for a limited time only there is no extra charge for placing your first chapter online when you purchase a one-year agreement. If you choose to advertise for less than one year, the price of placing the first chapter online is $2 per page, up to 20 pages. Advertisers also have the option of placing additional chapters and stories online, if they desire.How long should I advertise my book in The Book Mart?It is important to make a commitment to establish and maintain a long-term presence on the web. We advise you to advertise for a period of one year which allows you to take advantage of our discounted rates plus place your first chapter online at no charge. It also offers greater exposure of your work to a large number of readers, editors and book publishers.How can I proof my Book Mart information? I'm not connected to the internet.Once your information has been entered, we will send or fax you a printout with a copy approval form that you must approve, initial and return to us.What about copyright issues?Authors and artists retain copyright. It is suggested that you register your copyrights in your work. Write On Magazine does not authorize reproduction without permission with the exception of downloading for offline viewing and cannot he held liable for any copyright infringements by readers.What if I don't want to list my personal address in my ad?You may lease a post office box at your local post office.How do I place an order for a book?Contact the author directly. You are limited only by your own imagination and ideas. If you would like to contribute, send a follow-up chapter to the one curently appearing in Write On Magazine. Each month a new chapter appears and a winner is announced. The story continues for twelve months before a new one begins.Creativity and good solid writing are a must. The deadline is October 25 for entry in the next issue of Write On Magazine. Your chapter should be no more than 1000 words and sent to jeanfred@citrus.infi.net.
