What is Role-Playing?

Role-playing, is the art of inventing, or taking on the personality of another person or perhaps fictional character that does not exist. You act and play the role. It's basically acting, in words, I suppose. In these forums, we always write in third person. That means we write like we're watching this happen, we're narrarating, but we have explicit access to the mind of the character we are portraying.

How Do I Join?

To join, you first need to read all the rules. Make sure you now them. Then, go to The Boards, and register as a member. Next, dream up a character from the Harry Potter world. Completely make them up. Their name, appearance, everything. Then you go to The Boards and look under Administration. Find the board Character Auditions. Now, if you want to play a character J.K. Rowling included in the books, go to the Available Characters thread and see if that character is available. If it is, find the thread with House - Book. Of course, House will be the House of that character. If they're a teacher, then go to Teacher Auditions - Book and Original. If they're another character, go to Other Characters. If they weren't available, you may audition anyway, but the chances of getting the part aren't good. If you've got an original character, find the thread with Their House - Original title. Just follow those directions and you'll be fine!

How to Create a Character

To create a character, you first must join the boards. Next, follow the directions above to get to the proper forum. Once you're there, there'll be a list of things that looks like this:

Just fill this out and be original. Don't forget, this is a writing site, and this application is your first chance to show off your skills. Be sure to check the rules first, because there are a lot of special things that your character isn't allowed to have or do. After this step, go ahead and start posting. If you have disobeyed one of the rules severely and we by some chance disapprove of your application, then we WILL delete all of your posts.
