Puppy Sirius Out and About

This page was last updated 2/25/03

Come along as Brian takes the Seeing Eye Puppy, Sirius, out and about.  Sirius is learning the Basic Commands, and after responding to the commands in a proper manner, he gets lots of praise to let him know he did a good job. When his training session is completed, he gets a chance to play with his friends.  Playtime is very important with the pups.  They learn to socialize with other dogs and people during play periods, plus they get to burn off some of that energy that all pups have.

Learning to Walk Properly
Sirius is walked on the left side, the same side he will work on in harness.  He is encouraged to walk a half-step ahead with a slight pull.  If he begins to lag behind, he is told, "Hup-Hup".  If he begins to pull too hard, he is told, "Easy".
