Limited Edition MI5 007 P99

This Limited Edition Walther P99 is in recognition of MI5's British agent James Bond 007. After years of using his agency issued Walther PPK, Q finally has provided a more substantial personal weapon for 007. I'm sure the PPK will be around for quite awhile longer, but when Bond knows he may be in more dangerous situations than usual, the P99 is there for him.

As can be seen in the left side view, The MI5 seal is near the front of the slide followed by the P99 and the Walther banner. The importer's mark, in this case Earl's Repair Service can also be seen on the lower center of the slide. Neither Earl nor I like this on the left side. Both of us thought it would be better on the right, as most pistols are displayed left-side-up. This is the only 007 MI5 P99 that is marked in this manner. The rest of the MI5 P99's are marked on the barrel. This is the only one of its kind and was the very first MI5 P99 in this country.

The laser sight mounted to the P99 is the BA-5 manufactured under license from Walther. This is the version with the white banner; there is a black bannered one available as well. This diode is extremely bright. I had no problem seeing the dot at better than 300 feet in the daytime full sun. At night, I could't point it at anything far enough away to lose sight of it. It was designed and built for the P99 and it fits that way. No cheap 79.00 lasers here. This laser fits so well, it looks like it's part of the frame when installed.

The right side of the P99 shows the same MI5 seal and underneath the serial number 007 321. This is the 321st pistol of 1000 of this limited edition. Farther back on the slide is "Limited Edition" and the proof mark near the end of the slide. The chamber has on it the Walther banner, 9X19, the proofmark and the serial nimber. This is all laser engraved, but I don't know what is coloring the engraving.

This Limited Edition comes equipped with the European rear sight, two 16 round magazines, (would Bond be caught with 10 rounders?) an original German manual, not the one the other P99's come with, the interchangable backstraps, three other front sights with wrench, and a very large carrying case. It's about half the size of a briefcase, and has a place for everything, including an unused (in my case) cutout for a suppressor. Walther P99 is screenprinted on the lid and uses two metal flip catches to secure the lid. This pistol will undoubtably increase in value in the coming years. It is an outstanding example of Walthers attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. There is none finer.

Earl's Repair Service has been importing these fine leather English holsters from Price Western Leather Company LTD, Somerset, England. This is the laser holster for the Walther P99. It is a High-Ride forward cant, soft-shell design, using a tight grain smooth leather. There are two tension adjustment scews near the bottom. The thumbreak fits very well with no twisting of the thumbreak. A very useful feature is the round opening over the striker indicator to check the condition of your weapon.

This holster is unique in that it will allow you to cock the pistol to trigger-forward single action condition while still in the holster. This is done as follows: The slide and barrel of the holstered pistol rest on the forward adjustment screw bushing. As the grip and frame is pushed deeper into the holster the barrel and slide assembly stay stationary allowing the pistol to be cocked before being drawn.

It may be a few days before I'm able to try out this feature as I can't even draw the pistol because it is so tight. I am leaving the P99 in the holster with the adjustment screws snugged down somewhat tight. Hopefully after a few days it will be ready to use. It is a very well made holster and finished beautifully to a semi-gloss sheen. It fits this pistol exactly and can be used without the laser head installed for daytime duty.

These holsters are licensed by Walther for the P99. It is rather difficult to read the stamp on the back of the holster. It reads:

Walther banner, MADE IN ENGLAND, 114, WP99, LASER, C/9. The 114 is the model number of the holster. I also recieved a very nice triple thickness 1 1/2" belt that matches the holster and a matching magazine carrier. Total package was $250.00.
