Walther P.38 AC No Date Series.

The third variation of markings on the early Walthers was the AC code with no year stamp under the "AC". The was the final war code assigned to Walther. Only around 1,800 of these pistols were marked in this way. This fact makes it one of the rarest Walthers produced. Late in 1940, Walther started to hand-stamp the number "40" under the AC mark. AC was also stamped on the forward portion of the trigger guard as it meets the frame. Later still, Walther struck a die with AC over 40 on one stamp. Only about 13,000 of these pistols were produced before the AC/41 production started. Workmanship and finish was still excellent on the AC40 and AC41.
