Pokemon stands for Pocket Monsters. This refers to minature monsters. Hence, pokemon are monsters but aren't always poket sized. For example, a lotad can fit in your pocket but you'd need a ginormous pocket to hold a pokemon like swampert.

Lotad and swampert are new pokemon. They are from the pokemon ruby & saphire set. There are about 350 diferent kinds of pokemon and each pokemon has a unique characteristic. In the poemon games you have to catch 'em all, so I'll just say get catchin'.

There are currently many Pokemon games out such as, Pokemon Red or Pokemon Silver. But then we have to include Pokemon Pinball or Pokemon Puzzle League. In all there are more than 20 pokemon games.
