The intertwined lives of Peter Parker and Mary Jane came into serious conflict as the pressures and pace of their existences catched up to our crazed couple.
MJ's stalker closed in, and wrote in the mirror of her room: "You'll never be able to get away from me! If I can't have you nobody will! Your husband is going to DIE!" Seeing this, the police took her out and did not even permited Peter, that arrived that moment, to come close to her. Suddenly, he had to change to Spider-Man and he found his hands full with a ton of trouble when he had to fight and capture the Blob, who was robbing a truck that transported money. Escaping the place where the fight took place, an explosion blocked the street where the car transporting Mary Jane was passing, and a banner appeared "You belong to me". Mary Jane was shocked, then, Spider-Man showed up and carried her to a webbing walk. |

This issue continued the The Iron Man/Thor/Juggernaut crossover.
Spider-Man carried Mary Jane to the top of a building, in order to save her from his stalker. There, he confessed he had continued to use the uniform and he was Spider-Man again. She said she knew this all the time and she was trying to protect him, because she imagined the stalker would be one of Spidey's foes. Then, visiting the house of their friend Jill, she told Peter and Mary about the disappearance of his father, Arthur Stacy. Later, the wall-crawler discovered that a maniacal machine was being built beneath the Daily Bugle and he was pulled into the blistering battle between the Avengers and several godlike beings. (The story continued in JUGGERNAUT: THE EIGHTH DAY.) |
Continuing the three-part thriller set in modern continuity.
Peter Parker followed a trail that would lead him to a kidnapped Mary Jane and a final confrontation with the revitalized Chameleon, in the same bridge where Peter left Gwen some years ago. But, fortunately, it was not Mary Jane who was in the hands of the Chameleon, but that image was merely an holographic projection of his mask. Spider-Man and the Chameleon had a conversation about their lives, since they met the first time. Then, the Chameleon said: "I love you, Peter!" and they ended up both laughing... Suddendly, the Chameleon jumped off the bridge. Spidey tried to catch him, but was unable to reach his first foe, who smashed and desappeared in the dark water. |
