TV Guide Insider
Titus and Jason / Falcone
You're watching the TV Guide Channel. Now it's time to meet the stars of your favorite shows on TV Guide's Insider.
Narrator: In the shadowy world of the Mafia, you never know when greed or betrayal will seal your dooom.
CLIP OF SCENE FROM FALCONE
Narrator: But when an FBI special agent tries bringing an organized crime family to justice from the inside, every second of every day becomes a matter of life and death.
TITUS: My character is Sonny Napoli, who is a captain in the Volonte crime family. And Jason's character, Joe Falcone, is trying to infiltrate my crew to, sort of, use me as a way to get to the top figures in the family and ultimately take everybody down.
NARRATOR: But by living life in two worlds, one as a mob soldier and the other as an FBI agent, Falcone struggles to survive in the twilight between right and wrong.
TITUS: That's sort of what makes this show ... separates it from other shows -- that the line is blurred at times on both sides of it. The good guys sometimes have to cross the line, and the bad guys are very human .... which is ..... that's the good conflict .... the core of the show.
CLIP OF SCENE FROM FALCONE
NARRATOR: As wiseguy Joe Falcone, he spends his days looking over his shoulder. But when he steps back into the civilian world as Joe Pistone, things become a lot less deadly and far more complicated.
JASON: There's more than enough conflict between, you know, how I'm trying to infiltrate Titus' crew and then trying to spend enough time with my family. Because, obviously, I can't indulge them in what my operation is. So I don't spend enough time with the family.
NARRATOR: But Jason says spending time in the shoes of Joe Falcone is where the fun is.
JASON: For me, it's, you know, a very interesting day in the life of that element ... what that crime world is really like. I think that's what's just most fascinating.
NARRATOR: Next -- the cast gets a few suggestions they can't refuse when The Insider returns.
BREAK
NARRATOR: Now The Insider returns with the cast of Falcone.
NARRATOR: Falcone is based on the real-world exploits of former FBI special agent Joe Pistone. And to keep the show true to life, the real Falcone frequently gives the cast and crew some direction it can't refuse.
TITUS: He really ... more or less ... sort of ... can steer us in a word, at times, with any kind of questions we have about the characters and which way to go.
JASON: We're portraying a man's life, and I have to be that guy. I want to make sure I do it as believably as possible. To have him around to say, "Did I really mess up, like, your life .....
[ Titus laughs out loud at this ]
in one scene right there?" And for him to say, "You should have another take. Get it right this time."
NARRATOR: Not that the cast is in fear of sleeping with the fishes if they don't live up to expectations....
JASON: He's not an intimidating guy .......
TITUS: (interrupting) He's the warmest, most helpful, loving guy .......
JASON: (trying to interrupt back) Yeah! .......
TITUS: (continuing) ..... you could possibly imagine. He's just really warm ..... a nice human being ..... so it's not intimidating.
CLIP OF SCENE FROM FALCONE
NARRATOR: For Jason and Titus, it looks like their characters might be rubbing off on them. Well, at least their Brooklyn accents are rubbing off.
TITUS: I spent ten years trying to get rid of it ..... [ Jason laughs out loud at this ] .... I play guys with New York accents.
JASON: I lived there for a while. I lived there for about 14 years, so I ...... it's hard not to adapt to the New York way of life. Before you know it you're asking for "coffee (says it in a Brooklyn accent) regular"
[ Titus laughs out loud again ]. It just comes off. It rubs off on you.
NARRATOR: And over the course of the summer, these "made men" think Falcone will rub off on you.
TITUS: Even though I think there are, you know, factual events and things like that I don't know that it's ....... I mean ..... you can say "good vs. evil" or whatever. I think it's just really good story telling. I think that people will really be engaged by the characters and will follow the story and want to keep tuning in to find out what happens.
