CHILDREN OF GEORGE WATERHOUSE 1807 - 1885

William was the first born child of George and Betty.
He was baptised at the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Ashton-under-Lyne on the
4th September, 1836.

William, like his father, was a pawnbroker. In 1864 he married Hannah Porter and they lived first at
33 Wharf Street, Dukinfield and then at 7 Crawford Street, Cockbrook, Ashton-under-Lyne.

William and Hannah had five children:

Edward born 1867 and married to Mary,
CHILDREN:
Dorothy born 1899 in Pendleton
Wilfred born 1900 in Oldham
Elsie born 1901 in Manchester

Mary Jane born 1872

George 1874-1898

Anna 1877-1939

Alfred born 1881
 

William died aged 56 years on the 28th February, 1892.
He is buried in St Peter's Churchyard, Hope with his paternal grandparents, John and Betty Waterhouse.

Elizabeth was baptised at St Michael and All Angels Church, Ashton-under-Lyne on the 21 May, 1837.
She had died before 1841.

Mary Hannah was born on the 26th August, 1848
and baptised at St Michael and All Angels, Ashton-under-Lyne on the 24th September, !848.
There is no record of Mary Hannah's birth being registered in the Civil Registration Index.

From various census returns, we learn that Mary Hannah had some kind of disability. On these documents she is
labelled with the unfortunate term " imbecile ".

After the deaths of her parents, Mary Hannah's widowed sister-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth Waterhouse, and her family moved in
with her at 6 Chapel Street, Stalybridge.

Mary Hannah died aged 61 years in 1909 and is buried with her parents and brother Edward at Old Chapel, Dukinfield.
