The Thacker Family Coat of Arms

The name Thacker is of English origin, first
found in Staffordshire where they were seated from ancient times.
A Coat of Arms was granted by Henry VIII to one of the Thacker family in
appreciation for helping to overthrow Richard III
during the "Battle of Bosworth Field".
The date of the Crest and Coat of Arms is 1538.
My great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Thacker, was born at 6.00am on the
13th August, 1837.

Her father Samuel was an ironmonger and
according to " Slater's 1844 Directory", he had a shop on Stamford Street,
Ashton-under-Lyne.
Sarah's mother was Ann Hobson. Dates of
birth, marriage or death in respect of Samuel and Ann or unknown.
Sarah Elizabeth had at least two siblings, Ann birth date unknown and Joseph
born in 1840.
Joseph married Emma Sykes.
Sarah Elizabeth married Edward Waterhouse on the 13th July, 1862 at Christ
Church, Ashton-under-Lyne.
