FJWO is an NGO which is dedicated to issues for the betterment of the lives of women. It doesn't limit its activities just to women but in case of this particular project,it is working with indigenous peasent women in Pakistan. FJWO is a non-governmental organization whose main focus is primary education and literacy of Pakistan's women especially in the regions of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.It conducts educational programs geared towards both elementary age children and female adults.The women's literacy programs are designed to be bilingual and intercultural. The program goals are to develop communicative competence through teaching reading and writing in the mother tongue, and to achieve high levels of competence, both oral and written, in both understanding and producing Urdu. In the mother literacy programs, the women are taught to read and write first in Urdu, and then English is gradually introduced as a second language. In this way, a maintenance bilingual education program is effectively introduced, in which the use of one language does not eliminate the use of the other.
