Fruits, seeds and berries, and also cactus fruits.
Plumage general olive-green. Forehead and crown dark red. Red earspot. Small naked region in the face between the base of the bill and the eyes marked with tiny stripes of dark feathers. Bend of wing and carpal edge orange red. Sometimes reddish spots on breast and belly. Bigger flight feathers blue on the outer side. Underwing parts olive.
Tail olive, turning blue to the tip.
Bill dark grey to black.
Legs brownish black; "socks" reddish.
Iris orange.
