Shuborno

Tuesday, July 11, 2006
Our 8-track album A Breath Through the Ashes is being mastered over the weekend, and we hope to have it out for Friday, July 21, 2006. The tracks will be: Silent Sodomy, Ode to Spoon, Peter, Upon Your Shoulders, Infinite, Untitled 17, Hangovers in Schizophrenia, and Oryx.

(Yes, this is real!)

So Sasha, Ethan, Guns and I aren't actually dead. The album continues to exist in its perpetually nearly-complete state. We'll get it out there. Probably. Eventually. It sounds nice... honest.

I may update the MySpace page with a new song.

Hair continues to be chopped off, and progress on the album continues to be made, but I don't even know if it's worth mentioning since you probably don't believe me. :)

Ode to Spoon (new recording) is up on PureVolume though, and will be up on MySpace soon enough (still unmastered though).

We have two new Fervid Whisper resources:

www.myspace.com/fervidwhisper

www.purevolume.com/fervidwhisper (coming soon)

There you shall find a preview of the upcoming album.

The CD remains in its almost-done state. Unfortunately, school started for me, and thus most of my time is taken up with either doing school work or recovering from doing school work.

We've been playing a number of shows in the meantime though. They have been fun. I have a new Strat. It is fun. Sasha has a new POD XT Live. I assume it is also fun.

Honestly, we're almost done the CD!

Mixing is moving quickly along now that I know what I'm doing. The two hardest songs are saved for the end though. We are also in the process of designing the artwork. So things are definitely happening, they're just behind the scenes.

Friday, February 25, 2005
Mixing goes well. Everything is a learning process, and it is quite difficult, but my first few rough mixes are sounding very pleasing to the ear. I have a midterm in a few days, but after that, I expect the rest of the songs to get done fairly quickly. I suppose we should get thinking about album artwork.

Thanks to all who attended the show last night. It was a good time.

I'm very jealous of:
(a) Knock Knock Ginger's guitars
(b) Winter Equinox's talent - holy crap were they ever good

There is an article on Fervid Whisper in this week's Imprint (view article).

...and no, our album will not be called "Titties and Beer".

Bomber show coming up on Thurs. Feb. 10! Should be awesome. Check out the details, and take special note of the sign-in policy for non-UW students (it's an annoying policy, we know, but it's not something we can do anything about since this is an official UW Clubs event).

Sunday, January 23, 2005
The SLC show last night was actually quite awesome. We've never seen a crowd like that at any of the shows we've played in the Great Hall. People seemed to dig us. It was also awesome to play with Vacuity again; the last time we played with them was way back in 2002.
Shuborno

Friday, January 21, 2005
We made some progress on the album yesterday. We are now done analyzing all the vocal takes and picking the best ones. They are sounding pleasant.

If you're bored tomorrow night, come see us in the SLC at UW (info). It's free + open to everyone.

Thursday, January 13, 2005
We are in fact active and there are in fact shows coming up: Jan. 22 and Feb. 10 (bigger one). It would be great to see you all there.

As for the CD, mixing is the current stage.

We are mostly finished tracking for our CD. The vocal sessions went pretty well. Mixing will commence in January, and let's cross our fingers for a March 2005 release date. Note that we do have a show coming up on Thursday, February 10, 2005, so we be out of hiding fairly soon.

My brother took a video of Studio Spoon with his digital camera. You can check it out by clicking here.

Recording goes well. Sasha's done all his guitars, I've got two songs to go, and Ethan just started, but we got two songs done in the first day.
Shuborno

Wednesday, August 25, 2004
There's a show at Kitchener City Hall this Friday where they'll have the new Kitchener Domination sampler. Our CKMS recording of Ode to Spoon is on there. It's too bad we had to use that one since our current new recording is much better, but hey, it's something.
Shuborno

Monday, August 23, 2004
Hey all. Recording goes well. Sasha's almost done his guitars. Mine are coming along.

I've updated the shows page with as many names of bands we've played with in past shows as I could remember off the top of my head.
Shuborno

Friday, August 13, 2004
We're all still alive and well. Not too many updates recently, since we've been recording for the CD in Studio Spoon a.k.a. my basement. Guitars are sounding good - Sasha's stuff is moving along quickly. He's done about half his guitars now. I'll likely be finished all my clean parts by next week, and will start working on the distorted parts when my MetalZone comes back to me from Oklahoma, where I sent it to get modded by Robert Keeley (www.rkfx.com). I don't think anyone will be disappointed in these recordings - everything is rocking hard so far.
Shuborno

Monday, July 26, 2004
As of yesterday, we are finished recording drums! The session went very well - Guns was definitely on his game. Then end of Oryx sounds really really good. :)

We'll likely start with the guitars next Saturday. They'll probably be a lot more time consuming to record, since we plan to be picky.
Shuborno

Tuesday, July 20, 2004
The first proper recording sessions since 2002 begin on Sunday! We'll be laying down some drum tracks at Sound on Sound. It's got us pretty excited. We plan on recording every Fervid Whisper song going right now, possibly including a brand new one that has yet to have a live debut.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at the Lanc this past Friday. Your compliments were appreciated. Thanks also to Mr. Bryan for videotaping much of the show.
Shuborno

Thursday, July 15, 2004
The next FW show is tomorrow! We currently don't have any other shows scheduled (although that could easily change). It's just $5 for 5 bands, so can't go wrong there.

We'll likely start recording in the near future. All our current recordings are a bit dated and so we'll get all our songs recorded and release the ones that turn out well on a CD of some sort.

Many thanks to Ophelia's Mask for having us play at their final show / CD release party. OM was fantastic, and as great it was to hear them play their last notes, it was certainly a sad moment knowing that I wouldn't watch them do it again.

Thanks to Dave for videotaping the set.

Thanks to Meghan for showcasing her sandwich artistry and providing nourishment, allowing us to rock on full stomachs.

Thanks to all who came to the show.

T-Guns now has upgraded his kit to a Pearl from a Westbury, making Fervid Whisper's overall transition from crappy beginner gear to proper useful gear basically complete. (Sasha had an upgrade recently with the purchase of his new sweet Godin electric. I still use the first electric guitar I bought, but it's actually somewhat nice, so it doesn't fall under 'crappy beginner gear'; someday I'll go get myself a real Les Paul or something of the like).

Thanks to all who came out to the show, and especially to all that were able to stay for our set.

We apologize to anyone who came expecting Distopia - they cancelled.

Also, sorry to all the underaged people who were kicked out. We didn't know this would happen, and I suppose we have to think about better venues for the future that will allow everyone to enjoy the show.

We thank The Dirty Love and the Hues for opening.

Help Locate a Stolen Guitar

Our buddy Casey from Ophelia's Mask just had his guitar stolen. Keep your eyes peeled for it. The following is taken from his post on our message board:

if anyone happens to see my guitar (be that in a pawn shop, guitar store, anything) please tell me. today some asshole (that's right i said it) broke into ryan's house, where OM practises, and stole only my guitar. description:

fender standard stratocaster, made im mexico
deep red/purple body colour
black pickguard
3 single-coil pickups
all 3 knobs say "volume" on them
maple neck/fretboard

thank you very much, anything at all that may relate to this is muchly appreciated.

my email is caseyirvin@hotmail.com

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the guitar turns up.

People seemed to enjoy our set last night. I suppose it was alright for having awful monitors that weren't even turned on the first song, guitars that wouldn't stay in tune, and the general amateur vibe of a Supernova gig. Don't worry; we'll put on a real show for everyone sometime.

Lots of good bands were playing though. My personal favourites for the night were Disgust and Kenghk.

We can't wait for you guys to hear these recordings (The Darkiest Skies is coming!). We'll only receive the mastered copy in a few weeks though, so there's a bit of a wait.

Saturday, November 30, 2002
The show yesterday night went far better than we expected. The audience seemed to respond well to our music. We were the only acts the entire night touching acoustic guitars, and while we expected this would not work in our favour, perhaps it did. We were also given some extra time at the end of our set, as I think we were running ahead of schedule, so Sasha convinced us to debut our acoustic arrangement of The Darkest Skies.

We sold a number of CDs, and as a limited time offer, CDs came with a free hug from guest djembe player Tessa Hoffman (and I'm sure the offer contributed to at least a couple of those sales :-) . Tessa did an excellent job and really helped out our sound, and she will probably continue playing with us until we find a kit drummer.

Oh, and I must add, Astralcar put an amazing set, and you guys should definitely be checking them out (click here for their web site). I think they'd be our vote for the win (winners will be announced in a few days at supernova.ca). We've invited them to play with us at a show we're putting on in January.

Important News

Message from Sasha:
(as posted on the Message Board)

no folks... fervid whisper is not, has not, and will not be breaking up. But rumour is going around and some questioned must be answered. Why have the guys only been playing acoustic shows as of late? well the answer would be that we are short a member. Lawrence Widdifield, our former drummer is no longer with us. After playing with the good man for more than three years i must say it was a pleasure to jam so many times with such a talented musician. Tension within the band led to the decision that we best continue our musical careers, but go in seperate directions. Thank you Lawrence for all of the wonderful things that you brought to Fervid Whisper. You are a true musician and we appreciate everything you did. It was fun. Now as time goes on, and the band goes on, we will be continuing to play accoustic shows, while also auditioning for new drummers. anyone interested, or who knows of someone who is intereted, please contact me (sasha) 749 0350 or post on here

thanx muchly,
Sasha

Message from Shuborno:

Drummer Wanted

As you will have read in Sasha's message above, Fervid Whisper is currently looking for a new drummer.

We are keeping our eyes and ears open, looking for a quality drummer who will fit the band, and it would be greatly appreciated if our fans could do the same.

For anyone interested, or if you're reading this and know someone who you think would be interested and has what it takes, then do not hesitate to let us know. We would prefer to start working on getting back out there and playing full-band shows sooner than later.

Please direct all communciation about this matter to:
  • shuborno@hotmail.com; or
  • directly contact Sasha (phone number given in his message above), Shuborno, Ethan or Jake

  • Fervid Whisper is hiring. Spread the word.
