ARTICLE 2. MEMBERSHIP (CONTINUATION):
    2.5 CESSATION OF MEMBERSHIP:
  • e) Membership in the Society shall cease upon the death of the member or if the member, by notice in writing to the Society, resigns his or her membership or if the member ceases to qualify for membership in accordance with these By-laws;
  • f) Active members who have not attended at least two meetings of the Society, without valid reason in any given fiscal year, shall forfeit their active status for that year and subject to provisions herein described.

    a. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP:

  • The Board of Directors of the Society shall, from time to time, determine the procedure for terminating the membership of an individual or individuals for infraction of any of the By-laws or for gross misconduct, or for civil and criminal offenses within the Canadian legal system. Upon failure of the Board of Directors to make a decision regarding the aforementioned, the Board of Directors shall refer the matter to the Board of Trustees for final conclusion.
ARTICLE 3. RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS:
    b. RIGHTS OF MEMBERS:
  • a) Receive a copy of the Memorandum of Association and By-laws and the official publication of the Society;
  • b) Attend all social and business meetings of the Society and participate in discussions concerning the affairs of the Society;
  • c) Only active, paid members of the Society are entitled to vote in business meetings and hold office;
  • d) Associate and honourary members are not entitled to vote in business meetings or hold an elected office;
  • e) May volunteer their services to a committee or committees where they think they can be of utmost benefit to the Society;
  • f) May decline membership in any committee or committees where they think they will be unable to contribute satisfactorily;
  • g) May initiate or organize activities that would benefit the Society subject to the approval of the Board of Directors; 3.2 RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS:
  • h) Members shall abide by the provisions of the Memorandum of Association and By-laws of the Society which have been and may be adopted from time to time and shall conduct themselves in a proper manner when participating in the affairs of the Society;
  • i) No member shall, in his/her individual capacity, be liable for any debt or liability of the Society beyond the amount of any subscription, dues, or fees payable by him/her to the Society;
  • j) Members shall abide by a written Code of Conduct or Ethics, not inconsistent with these By-laws and as set forth, from time to time, by the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors.
