'The Forward Look'
.......
in miniature
The Forward Look describes the Virgil Exner years of design at Chrysler Corporation, which spanned 1955 through 1962.  Exner's revolutionary designs had the rest of America's automobile industry playing catch up.  Many of these cars have become favorites of mine and I have many examples in my vast collection.

The following models are 1/24th and 1/25th scale
Okay, guys, dont' go running down to the local hobby shop looking for this model on the shelf.  This 1956 DeSoto Pacesetter convertible started life as a reissued promotional of a Fireflite 4 door sedan.  Major work consisted of re-scribing the door lines, of course removing the roof, and fashioning an interior.  The results are certainly worth the effort.
To promotional collectors, the '57 Dodge was known as the phantom, as no one produced a promotional model of this car.  The coral and charcoal Custom Royal convertible shown here was created by Memory Lane Models of Pittsburgh PA using a '58 Dodge hardtop promo as a base.  Only 150 of these resin cast cars were produced.
Another spectacular creation from Memory Lane is this '57 Plymouth Sport Suburban in Sand Dune White over Ginger.  Believe it or not, this started out as a Belevedere 2 door hardtop.  This model is currently (as of Dec. 00) available from Memory Lane in most '57 Plymouth colors.
One of my favorite Mopars, the mighty '57 300 C Convertible.  This black beauty was recently released by the Franklin Mint for all to have.  A superlative scale model exacting in proportions and every detail.  You could almost hear the roar of the 392 Hemi with its two 4-barrel carbs.  The convertible top is removable and the boot is supplied.
Not to be outdone, the Danbury Mint has also released a '57 300C, this one in Cloud White.  It's pretty tough to decide between these two beautiful models -- that's why I have both!  The shot at right shows a 300C at the gas pump, a fairly typical pose for this gas guzzler.  The motorcycle in the background of the bottom shot is a 1957 Harley Davidson Sportster, also from the Franklin Mint.
