'The Forward Look' ....... in miniature -- pg 2 |
The following models are 1/24th and 1/25th scale |
Another great piece from the Danbury Mint is the recently issued '58 Plymouth Fury. Danbury didn't miss a trick on this one. The fully wired engine room, the anodized gold side trim, the correct upholstery pattern -- even on the door panels, and a perfect reproduction of the trunk mat, all add up to one of the best of the precision diecasts. I only wonder why they left the rear windows in the rolled up position.....? |
Rose Quartz and plum are the colors on this '59 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer. It's a reissued promotional model from XEL, produced in the late '80s and early '90s. These reissued promos are basically identical to the original dealer promotionals except that they are made from modern plastics that don't warp and distort as the originals tended to. |
This has to be one of my all time favorite station wagons. This Alaskan White over Iris '60 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country is yet another masterpiece from Memory Lane. It also started out as a 2 door hardtop so you can see major reworking was done. Memory Lane also offers '60 and '61 Dodge Polara wagons and a '62 Town & Country, which I hope to add to my collection soon. |
Ideal, the forerunner of JoHan, did the '55 Plymouth Belvedere sedan as a taxi, as well as a private car. These are extremely rare, and I feel privileged to have this near-mint example in my collection. |
For 1956, JoHan also produced the Belvedere sedan as a taxi and private car. The car on the right is an original issue, as can be told by the metal bumpers and wheel covers, and the tinted windows. The taxi on the left is a re-issued model done by XEL in the late '70s. The bumpers and wheel covers are plastic , and the windows are clear. Note the slight warpage on the original, as these were made from acetate. The whitewalls on the re-issued car were added by me. |
Well, cab drivers have to eat too! Here's 2 re-issued '56 Plymouths by XEL. In the mid to late 80's, they came out with the taxi in green, and the Belvedere sedan in Jet Black over Briar Rose with whitewalls. Even these re-issued models have become quite rare and desireable. The early '60s McDonalds burger stand is a recent Snow Village item. |
