Imperials on a Smaller Scale -- Page 2 |
One of Virgil Exner's earliest design products at Chrysler was this K310 show car built by Ghia in Italy in 1951. As you can see, some of the features appeared on Imperials in later years. Note the round wheel wells and gunsight tail lights which debuted on the '55s and the 'toilet seat' spare wheel on the trunk that first appeared in 1957. This high quality 1/43rd scale hand built model is from Great American Dream Machine, which produces exclusively models of concept cars. |
Based on the K310, the C200 convertible made its appearance on the show circuit in 1952. It sported dual exhausts, twin side view mirrors, and a distinctive color scheme of pale green and black. This model is also from Great American Dream Machine. |
Definitely one of the highlights of my entire collection, this 1956 Crown Imperial Limousine by Legendary Motorcars almost defies description with its painstaking attention to even the smallest detail. The interior shows the division window in the halfway up position; the jumpseats are shown with one folded and one unfolded. Then there are those incredible wire wheels. This was a very limited edition of only 200 pieces, so it's almost as scarce of the real car! |
