A General Timeline of the Recent History of Confederation of Planets

1961First Terran space explorations.
1969First Terran landings on Luna, Terra's moon.
2006Completion of first United Nations International Space Station in geosynchronous orbit about Terra.
2011Archimedes settlement on Luna, Terra's moon established as a small mining base.
2013United Nations Space Coordinating Agency (UNSCA) established on Terra.
2020Copernicus settlement on Luna, Terra's moon, established by America, Britain and Japan.
2050ESA Long-Range Colony Mission leaves Terra in generation ships.
2061UNSCA bases throughout the Terran solar system.
2068Terran System War begins.
2078Terran System War ends.
2080Prometheus, Terra's first interstellar colony, established in Alpha Centauri system.
2088Luna, Terra's moon, unifies as a nation in the United Nations.
2090UNSCA researchers develop Jump-1 drives in Sol's asteroid belt.
2118Offworld Skirmishes begin as Core World colonies begin to resist the yoke of Terra's rule.
2120Treaty of New York brings an end to the Offworld Skirmishes, and various UNSCA colonies of the Core Worlds successfully reform United Nations as United Worlds, creating a true interstellar polity.
2185United Worlds establishes first colony of the Sirian Cluster in the asteroid belt of Sirius.
2201Terra achieves TL 10.
2287Canis, a moon orbiting an outer system planet of the Sirius system, is interdicted by the United Worlds as a Red Zone. Later that year, news is leaked to the media that ruins of an previous civilization were found on surface of the cold moon. The United Worlds Stellar Navy (UWSN) denies the rumors.
2306Tau Ceti settled by a large faction of the Anachronist Movement, who seek a place where they may reject modern industrialized technology and return to a less technological way of life.
2335A military coup attempts to force the United Worlds into a stricter regime, starting the Great Civil War between the Federalists and the Unionists.
2341Terra achieves TL 11 as Federalist researchers develop Jump-2 drives.
2343The Great Civil War ends with the formation of the Confederation of Planets, an interstellar government primarily under Federalist control. Unionist dissenters flee to the outworlds, particularly the Sirian Cluster.
2347The Confed Exploration Forces, a branch of the Confed Stellar Navy, announces that a CEF Scout base will be established on Tau Ceti as a point from which expeditions to survey the Sirius subsector will be launched. The CEF has also commissioned a new Discovery-class exploratory survey vessel to perform the survey.
2350The first Discovery-class exploratory survey vessel, the CSS Magellan, is launched from Wolf 359 on its mission to begin surveys and explorations of the Sirius subsector.
