Dieless/Coldfoils

Foils are coated polyester films that allow  transfer of the coatings to a substrate.

Foils are transferred by using machines that can apply heat and pressure in a dwell time. These three factors are closely related to the extent that increasing one allows reduction in another.(i.e. More heat, less pressure.)

Each of the various most popular types of foil are listed below. Choose which one you wish to know more about, or click below for "Foil Manufacture".

Foil References : are generally made up of a prefix and a suffix. One will indicate the colour and the other the  grade of foil.

i.e. Foilco 654 ABG
meaning Colour 654gold, Grade ABG

There can be exceptions to this, for example some holographic foils include a reference to the pattern.

i.e. Crown HolographicBU84 100 752
meaning GradeBU84, colour100 silver, pattern752
