Prayers Psalm 23 - The Shepherd's Psalm Every day I need You God, but this day specially, I need some extra strength to face whatever is to be...This day more than any day I need to feel you near - to fortify my courage and to overcome my fear. By myself I cannot meet the challenge of the hour. There are times when human creatures need a higher Power - to help them bear what must be borne, and so, dear God, I pray - hold on to my trembling hand and be with me today. Loving God, as morning breaks, I offer you praise for the gift of life. I pray for the wisdom and strength of your Holy Spirit so that I may be ready for whatever this day will bring. Teach me to see Christ in everyone with who I will have contact today - doctors, nurses, staff, fellow patients, family, and friends. Grant me patience in pain and the compassion to look beyond myself. You are my strength, O God, I rely on you this day. Creator God, as this day ends, I give you thanks for the quiet ways your love has been with me. Grant me a peaceful sleep and let your healing spirit be at work in me to restore me to health. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen. Healing God, when I think of surgery, I am anxious, but I know that through the skill you have given to my doctors and nurses, you can bring relief to my body. Be with the doctors and nurses in your power and wisdom, and be with me in your love and peace. Amen. God you who are the greatest healer, I thank you for your watchful care over me in my hours of crisis. Help me to regain my health and be with me during my recovery. Strengthen me and keep me cheerful. Help me to bear with patience and fortitude whatever pain I may have. May I always be aware of your comforting presence and may I always be thankful for your divine gift of life. Amen. O God, I cannot sleep. I lie awake, thinking about things and worrying. I worry about my health, my family, the future - a countless number of things. I am weary but I find no rest. I remember your words; 'Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it? (Mt 6:27) Help me to take your words to heart. Let me place each concern in your hands. Grant me peace, O God, and let me sleep. The Shepherd's Psalm You are my shepherd; God grant me the Serenity Lord, may I know you more clearly, O God, You have given me so much,
