There is a lot of text on this page and a few snaps of our paltan. I am sure that the value of this page shall be known a few years from now. Good investment this.....Remember the gujju.....
Traditional Day : We didn't know each other that well but still we managed to get a class photo for ourselves and got to know each other much better.....This was the start to the most wonderful four years of our life.....We were not too happy with the crowd in the college and none of the seniors were interested in ragging us.....what a sad college we thought......but we knew that we were going to change it all.
Formal and Rose day : By the time the Rose day was organized we all had some couples to tease. The star couples of the ff.'s were Preeti and Shreya....they had some khunnas going........Vinay and Seema ( Pankaj sorry yaar- but this had to come up).....Rohan and Rasika.......Ajay and Prajakta........But that was total tp none of them managed to get going and what a popat.....there were a few good messages ........garam hai loha maar de hathoda ......and your eyes are very attractive - they attract each other. There are surely other couples that I have forgotten. One that comes to mind now is our very own busty and Seema Parteti.....Myself and Judi ( unfortunately not foster yaar). Lots of fun we had and guys purane zakham taaza karne ke liye mafi chahta hoon.
Euphoria : Well this is surely something. This is our college festival and we were all surprised that something like this is also allowed in engineering colleges. Great....simply great. We had the best time during these 3 days. There were lots of events we won and Manas, Pankaj, Rohan and Rasika immediately shot to the cultural scene.
Traditional Day : Surely very similar to the first year with the only difference being that we were much better friends and we surely enjoyed the photo sessions.
Formal Day : There are many studs in our class and all the guys are at their best on this day. The suits and ties, we look handsome man. Well let's write something for the girls too. They were okay.....but they still thought that formal and saree day are the same thing.
Rose Day : We lost enthu for this during this year or maybe it was not well organized. Whatever it was apart from a few very valid and friendly messages there were a few that stand out.......arey partha khali yeh na........not many can forget this one.
The Second year dance presentation, sorry it was a performance :
It's been said that no one ever has given a dance performance like this as we did during the 2nd year and the show was an absolute hit. Thanx to the mind blowing Audience support and also our classmates working backstage doing technical activities and ofcourse not to forget the dancers. Lets take a closer look at the dancers who claimed to be the best in college but were never satisfied with their work :
Song : Koi mil gaya ( Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ) The dance was a total copy of the original song, so hats off to Farah Khan too....
Cast :
Sameer Yeolekar : Our very own Sharukh Khan alias Bacchu who's better known for his dancing abilities . Probably the best dancer in college .This guy has been a major part of the success doing his stunts and cranky steps which his team mates cld never dream of. Full credit to his mom for preparing delicious lunch during the practice sessions. He wore the same clothes but never looked like Shahrukh. Check Sameer in his outfit that created waves.
Kalika Patil : Alias Kallu. She's probably the best dancer and the most energetic among the girls, that is what they say as she potrayed the cute looking Rani Mukherjee for the dance. But there was always one thing that Rani and kallu differed from and that was her big laugh.....he he hee. But we believe that no one ever could have given a performance like she did. Hats off to her too......She was wonderful throughout.
The suppossedly seductive Rani Mukherjee.
Rasika Deshpande : Alias Rinky. She was the one who potrayed Kajol and was more appreciated for her expressions as Sharukh stole away Rani in front of her eyes. She had been real sent even after the dance still trying to recover from that heartbreaking act..What a performance...more important were the costumes.........
Purvesh Pancholi : Alias Ladies Man. Always seem to be looking for a good partner to dance with as he wanted to steal the show with all his energy. This guy had spent most of the practice sessions training only the girls which he feels proud of and was famous for doing the girly steps during rehearsals. Hum bhi hain purvi humbhi hain.
Niraj Pendalwar : Alias Bhau. No one knew whether this guy could make it up coz he was new from the dips (he diploma ofcourse) and for their surprise yes he did. This guy has been an absolute ham, cracking stupid jokes and suggesting funny steps for the dance. But then he's a great dancer too.
Anuj Shah : Well, I am the most sporting of all guys. Wonder how I manages sports and dance practices very well. I am well known for the skillful art of coming late and also not attending many practices. In the end I work real hard and manage to make only 1 mistake on stage.
Kedar Fondekar : Alias The Big F. It was hard to make this tall guy dance on the tunes of koi mil gaya. A real deluge of mistakes during the rehearsals and was mostly a big topic of humour for his claps during the dance. I wonder how he made it for the final show.
Preeti Getkewar : Alias Gatekeeper. She emerged as a big sumdi . We never knew she dances so well. She's a pretty good dancer as she knows Katthak like her baaye haath ka khel. She was the one who used to creep everytime during the rehearsals for practicing regularly
Avni Mapara : Alias MTS-The 2nd . Now this female is a big imitator of MTS and used to crack some cranky jokes on her during rehearsals. I wonder how she got her termwork so well. Hey anyway she's a very sporting fella too and loves dancing like dolls.
Rachana Vyas : Alias Tom boy. Never seen this female running out of jeans and T-shirts and if u ve seen her in some other dress, then I believe it must be the traditional day. She's a good critic but a good dancer as well. U guys gotcha see her in the snaps of our dance, she's looking real funny.
Sarika Alvekar : Well, this female is famous for mixing up the western dances or the filmi dances with her very own well known Bharatnatyam which she knows at the back of her hand. It was real tough for us to make her dance on the steps and I believe she's the one who was given 3rd degree torture practices along with Kedar.
Vinay Bhat : Alias Sumdi mein Chamdi. This fella had not much a big part to do during the show but a real interesting one as he had to do a small ball dance with our very own Miss Briganza, for which all the male dancers were jealous of. It was hard for all to be in synchro with this guy as he used to get carried away by the latke jhatke of of miss briganza....chamdi saala.....Valley put extra make-up and vinay looks better than he generally does.
Valencia D'souza : Alias Valley. She's got terrific singing abilities but this time she had to prove herself for the dance. She portrayed miss briganza and the way she did her part was absolutely mind blowing. Miss Briganza aha....
Vishy,Rohan,Ajay : They were the ones who did a really cute part of the show by providing the balloons to bacchu, kallu and rinky. Ofcourse it was an important job as no one cld ever forget the balloons of KKHH written Rahul, Tina and Anjali.
Check out Rohan and the stars with the cake.
Kalika, Sameer and Rasika doing a step
Traditional Day : This one is unforgettable. Vinay's traditional lungi, Pk- the sun god and viddesh in his fundoo silky kurta. These guys looked stunning. The girls as usual preferred the saree stuff and not to forget lot's of make-up. Kalika and Preeti in traditional sarees looked totally different.
Formal Day : We were equally enthu for this one as well and all of us were well-dressed, not that we were rags to college on other days. We were beginning to enjoy the photo sessions once again and as usual must have had some million cameras for a few people. No one wanted to miss a thing I guess
Rose Day : Not many must have attended this one. Yeah the cream of our class was already going around by then.
The Dance Competition : This was the most awaited dance of the evening as it was too hard for the people to forget the breathtaking performance of Koi mil gaya. The show was full of a hell lot of mistakes as the dancers couldn't hear the music clearly but it was well said that Koi mil gaya did half of our job and we were again the inter-class winners. It was again possible due to the support from the audience which never stopped screaming until the end of the dance.
Song : A fusion of -- Jaanam samjha karo (JSK),Ek pal ka jeena ( KNPH) , Dil ne dil ko ( KNPH ).
Cast :
Sameer Yeolekar : Its Salman and Hrithik time folks !! Now this guy had been an absoute crazy, day dreaming for his entries and some funky stunts. But the best part that stole the hearts of all the people was Hrithiks break dance which he could imitate as swiftly as hrithik himself. We called him the Chor---eographer as he was famous stealing steps set on some other songs.
Purvesh Pancholi : This guy is the real choreographer who used to work day and night setting steps for the dance. A real hard worker trying to rehearse every guy and ofcourse every girl too. That's where the dialogue originated just for him " HUM BHI HAI purvesh " ... hahaha Well said Bhau & Anuj. According to a survey done among the male dancers his stats for the rehearsals were :
Max. time spent for practices = 50 hrs
Max. time spent with guys during practices = 5 hrs
Max. time spent with girls during practices = 55 hrs ( wrong mathematics I am sure but I had to take into account the breaks)
That's why we call him the Ladies Man isn't it ??
Niraj Pendalwar : Nothing new for this cool guy as he still carried on with his cranky jokes playing small mischief's every second minute. This time he came out with some really innovative ideas with some dangerous steps but 'afsos' they were all rejected. The survey says that he used to go to bachhus place for rehearsals as he never wanted to miss that lunch.
Kalika Patil : Now she has always been a kickstarter for our show and maybe that's the reason why we were the winners. But this time no one knew why the hell she started dancing alone on the stage as they could not hear the music backstage. We missed her a lot for the dance in the final year as she was busy studying for her GRE.
Anuj Shah : This time he did it again. Used to give minimum time for rehearsals and maximum time for the cricket and football matches. No doubt he used to escape that third degree torture practices as he was a great learner. Also he seems to be a great admirer of the delicious lunches at bacchus place and seems to give his best performance only after he's had it all.
Avni Mapara : She was the one who used to do a lot of naatak for attending the rehearsals giving reasons that her cat was ill and stuff like that. Don't u blame her cat for that or else she ll kill u. She looked to have great time practicing at her place till 2 AM late night as she used to miss all the sessions.
Pretty Getkewar : This time she became famous for rejecting the steps set by the choreos and was a major critic for wearing funky dresses for the dance . But in the end she compromised and everyone appreciated her spirit.
Rasika Deshpande : She was Miss Cultural Secretary of the college then and had more time for cultural activities in college than the rehearsals. She spent most of the time running up and down the college inspite of having her knee injured during many practice sessions. It was too hard to make her dance too. She was purus main bakra (oops bakri ) who needed max. practice.
Shreya Vakil : Alias Model. : It was a real tough job for Niraj as he used to teach this guy and their practice many times used to end up in talks about girls and stuff like that. But this guy had taken up the dance as a challenge as he had already setup his picture on the ramp as a model by his passionate walk. One more bakra for 3rd degree torture practices.
Sarika Alvekar : This time no mixing up the bharatnatyam with western dances. She was the one who was always punctual for the practices and used to wait long hours for all others to join in. Unfortunately we could not have her in the dance troupe in the final year as she was out for some reasons.
Rachna Vyas : Now this girl seemed to have developed interest in the dance in the last few days of the practices and that's why she joined in late for the last 2 songs. But still she did cope up well and tried a lot to put her 100 percent. Thanx to Rohan for encouraging her.
Valencia D'souza : She accompanied Rachna in the last two songs as our troupe lacked one guy for one more pair. Even her brother seemed to have developed interests in the dance as he too used to be present for some of the rehearsals.
Special thanks to Jesal Bhuta (alias Jesaluddin, Jassi, Jesal-ul-haq, Jesalnama etc etc. ) It was a real tough job for getting those songs fused and missing not even a single millisec of the beat and all that was possible becoz of this man. It couldn't have been possible as we did the whole recording the day before the final presentation and the amounts of pain this guy had taken was simply unbelievable. We ll never forget the late entries done by bacchu at times and some really funny steps but hey inspite of doing a lot of mistakes on-stage still we managed to win the first prize. Maybe that was all possible due to the crowd support we had and ofcourse it was payback time for the dancers efforts.
Traditional Day : The message was out and clear....... WE HAVE GOT VERY LITTLE TIME TO GO TOGETHER, SO MAKE THE MOST OF IT AND DON'T MISS A THING....... but make sure that you look somewhere else. That's what was exactly followed. We decided to have our own traditional day, since the cultural sec took no notice of the fact that it was on off-day for us. But then the response was tremendous and the girls just love to dress up, don't they.
Formal Day : Time to feel professional once again and since many of us were going to join the industry what better day to try out dressing in formal. Check out our snap in the happening college canteen.....a nice place to sit but the food sucks. God knows what we all were up to and this was the day when we got the wierdest of snaps clicked for ourselves.
The Dance :
Since we had been winning this competition since the last
2 years, everyone had their eyes set on our class that we cld do it again.
But to their surprise it wasn't us. But still due to the amount of efforts
that everyone took we still could bag the 2nd prize which headed our way to
the Cultural trophy for the 2nd
time in our 4 years career. Lotsa faces disappointed when they stood second
but they were all happy again as our class bagged up the cultural trophy.
Songs : Aisa pehli baar hua hai (HDJPK), Remix
music, Aakhen khuli ho (Mohabbatein), Koi mil gaya remix (KKHH).
Cast :
Sameer Yeolekar : This time a Sallu / Sharukh
mix and believe me he was the only person who took the least efforts during
the rehearsals. He spent most of the time either making others practise or
else busy chatting with his better half. But still he did put up a great show
and proved it again that we are the best. Now by the end of this show, this
guy had become a pro at giving late entries as
he did it again which went unnoticed by the judges and even the audience.
Purvesh Pancholi : This choreographer had become
a pro at teaching the girls which he loved to do anytime. The amount of time
he spent with the guys this time was far less than that of last year and therefore
more humming of " HUM BHI HAI ". They say that purus kids are gonna
learn the numbers in the order of 5..6..7..8..1..2..3..4.. and no one knows
it better why than the dancers themselves. But the only person who took utmost
efforts to put up the great show was him and we truly appreciate that.
Avni Mapara : And guess what who was in the lead
this time, yeah it was her time to spin the ball and she made it to the top.
This time she seemed to be a lot enthu to win the race and ofcourse she did
it with flying colors.
Anuj Shah : As his tradition says, this guy again
did miss a couple of practices playing ball games. But did really work hard
for the rest of the times. He never spared anyone trying to pull his leg and
make a bully out of him. This guy was usually busy watching the India Vs Aus
matches and yeah sometimes even having a nice nap during the rehearsals. Seems
to be in total form this year as he's flying off
to the US for his MS.
Niraj Pendalwar : A very non-punctual guy, always
used to arrive late for the practices especially just in time for the lunches.
Always energetic during the practices and cool expressions on his face with
some really mischievous thoughts going on in mind. This guy never used to
miss an opportunity to tease
the girls and not to forget his partner whom he kept on teasing until the
2 were separated by some strange formations in the dance.
Prajakta Vaidya : Now she's was debutante and
was claimed to be niraj's partner which she cld never be fortunately. She's
a great dancer and claims to have learnt bharatnatyam. Even though she
was in the troupe for the first time she showed no signs of lack of confidence
or inexperience. Her injured leg always gave her a chance to escape the practice
sessions, which she seemed to enjoy the
most as she never missed a chance to complete assignments.
Preeti Gatekewar : She was cool during the rehearsals
and used to work really hard. But one thing always made her upset during the
practices and the guys were not doing really well. She never missed a chance
to claim that the girls were better dancers than the boys, but she never knew
that the more u underestimate the guys they ll try to prove themselves better
the next time, and hopefully
that spirit made us win the race.
Manali Joshi : She's a debutante too and seems
to be really hard working. She had already proved herself to be a great singer
and this was her chance to prove in the field of dance. She used to be mostly
busy practicing for her orchestra but anyway she used to manage time for the
rehearsals too.
Rachna Vyas : She was the one who used to stay
for long unless she did it perfectly. Now this female must be tired of hearing
GOOD COACHING as they used to say for coaching rohan. She never used to miss
a chance to run away to mcdonalds during the short breaks.Nevertheless, she
was a proud fella after her very own student gave her a mind blowing performance.
Rohan Shetty : A very shy but a very naughty
debutante. He's another non punctual guy and used to really enjoy lunches
at bacchus place. He was another person arriving just in time for the lunches
and used to be very lazy while practices. Very famous for doing Dharmedare
patent dances and used to be a total prankster during practices. He was one
of Bharats bakra to make a last wish.
Priya Mhatre : No guys this time it was not another
participation for IEEE but her name in the troupe really did surprise everyone.
She's done a bit of bharatnatyam and therefore was capable to perform well.
She was the one who used to get tired waiting for long, saying Mera number
kab aayega as she used to wait for long to get her chance to dance.
Reenal Mahajan : No one knew she could dance,
but someone in the troupe had a belief that she could do it. And really she
could do it. She joined the troupe a little late for the last song, but nevermind
her performance did count a lot. She was mostly busy doing lotsa work backstage
and in the end joining the dancers for the last song.
Paresh Tapania : Lovely PK lovely, Those were
the words of appreciation for this guy who perfomed throughout uske hisaab
se. Now he was another debutante who claimed to know the a to z of garba and
so he used to be busy practicing all the steps in garba isshtyle. Imagine
a guy rehearsing some crazy dance steps in a crowded virar local, well this
guy has done it all and has definitely proved
himself to be a great dancer.
Bharat Shinde : Now what do I say !! Ever seen
Arnold Schwarznegger dancing on the beats of a hindi song . Well this man
tried to prove the same and hope he was successful. It was a real hard time
for all the guys to make him do it perfectly, Mostly niraj and rohan spent
most of the time teaching him and in the end all they cld say was .....Purvesh
enough of girls now please handle him , we
are all out of this.
In the end our technicians :
Jesal Bhuta : This man has been contributing
a lot of his time and efforts for the dance as he was always kept busy daydreaming
for not missing even a millisecond of a beat. He was usually kept busy calculating
the amount of time the light would take to reach the stage or including a
500 millisecond gap in between the songs etc etc. The kind of efforts he had
put was simply unmatchable
and we still appreciate that 200 millisecond break that u put in between the
songs.
And last of our technicians :
Pankaj Kamat doing a good job for managing the
lightwork.
Christopher James for trusting us with all those musical instruments that he used to churao from his relatives and friends and also for his very unvaluable advice. Nevertheless we thank him a lot.
The people who were backstage . I don't know who all were
present backstage and
ofcourse for the excellent crowd support.
