Give a man a fish and you are hailed as a hero. Try to teach a man to fish and you are called a racist.---Virtual Sanity.
Sniff! Bernadette and Robert left early. She was bemoaning that she needed a month to go through her room, and I pointed out that she could have done this last year, staying with US instead of her inlaws at the time I needed her most. Grrr.
I took Casey to the park today with a Frisbee and a kite. The very first thing we did was throw the Frisbee into a tree. Then it was spend the next 15 minutes getting it down. The kid tends to throw the Frisbee at an angle and it flips over.
We did well getting the kite up. I told Casey to run away from the kite, which helped. If I could get the kid not to run at all it would help more. Later some other people brought kites and theirs didn't go as high as ours. Stupid me, though, I tore it when I was packing it up. I told Casey about the kite I made when I was 7 or 8, and how I couldn't fly it and these "big boys" claimed they could make it fly and took it away from me.
Another story for Casey, after a couple of times when the kid claimed to be stuck in the play equipment, was "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." This in the car, and the child listened. We also petted a couple of dogs and talked to the owners, and I note how much more outgoing Casey is, and how much better the child is talking. I'd figured the third time would be the charm, and I might well wring a small neck, but today really went well.
It's the 30th anniversary of the Munich Olympic Massacre. We were in Minehead, on the "beach" and at the seaside carnival, when we heard this news. Instapundit says, "It's obvious now that in 1972 the Palestinian "liberation" movement was already all about murder rather than liberation." Photodude also talks about it.

how can we trust the government with the new powers it wants when it’s done such a disappointing job with the ones it already has?
Finally, Mark Steyn.
