September 6: Figs

The Iranian lady who comes for our figs every year brought a jar of fig jelly for us. Meanwhile, I was sitting outside enjoying the day and one of our new Russian neighbors came by and gave me a leaflet advertising the grand opening of his tailoring business. He's living the American dream. I love this country!

Pagan took me to lunch, though I took him in my new car. (Then he had to wait while I backed and filled in the safest parking place and got as far away from dings as I could.) He says he was having to ask me to repeat a lot, but I didn't notice. Perhaps I'm just used to Rich. Lunch was at Macaroni Grill and I ordered a fairly light one, which is just as well after the huge appetizer we had. It was a nice afternoon!

We suddenly realized that we didn't look up the WTC beam when we were at the State Fair. Oops.

Rich spotted a dead rat at the side of the house. We think it's Fitch's work, but who knows for sure. Also, I've had a caterpillar take on my basil and thyme, darn it.
