About IMO
I am glad you found my little corner of the world wide web and I hope you are enlightened and /or entertained by what you see here. The intent of the site is to offer opinions on the news of the day, sports, politics, entertainment, or special interest from a minority point of view. Views that I believe are no longer being voiced as media ownership becomes more and more concentrated and focused on profits.
This is a not for profit site. We receive no income for anything that appears here and have no control over the adds Yahoo or Geocities appends to the site. To better see the pages in the site the adds can be minimized by clicking on the gray bar in the add column. The adds however, are how the site earns it way and are controlled by the host, Yahoo and Geocities.
I am Fred,, and will be the main contributer, but from time to time I will also have help from other people in the family including my sister Kim, and niece Dell.. Other people in the family may also contribute. The site has initially been divided up into 6 themes with one page devoted to each theme.
The site begins with the "Home" page whose main focus will be articles on the news of the day. It also includes the records of my favorite sports teams college and pro, and a list of family birthdays for the current and following month.
The "About" page is where we will tell you a little about ourselves and our background. The major factors in why we are who we are and think what we think.
The "Feature" page is where we at IMO will elaborate on one of our special interests. The feature can contain pictures, stories, or other items of interest. These features will be a permanent part of the site, but only one feature will be active at a time. When you click on the feature link you will automatically be taken to the active feature.
On the "Commentary" page we at IMO will comment on news, sport, or political issues of the day. With the concentration of news outlets to fewer and fewer owners we feel that many points of vies have been left behind. We will offer our rebuttal to what is being reported as fair or balance, the whole story, or as some stations claim the facts.
The "News" page is a continuation of the home page in most cases, but will also contain stories and items that cannot fit or don't warrant front page coverage.
The "Sport" page is will concentrate on sports with a special focus on Conference USA in general and UTEP in particular. Other stories about other teams and athletes may also appear here.
In addition to the pages listed above we have two contest sites. The oldest is the IMO Football Frenzy contest. This contest is dedicated to the NCAA Division I college football bowl season and is open to all family members and close friends. Each contestant submits a form declaring which teams they believe will win each of the 31 bowl games and assigns a point value (1-31) to each game. The person who has picked the bowl game correctly gets the points they wagered. The person with the highest point total is our contest winner and is given a place in our IMO Football Frenzy Hall of Fame.
Our other contest is the March Mayhem contest where we try to pick the winner of the NCAA's basketball tournament. Each contestant selects the winning team round by round and gets points for correct picks. The person who selects the most picks correctly and assigns the greater point value wins the contest. This contest is on a trial basis this year to see how much interest there is for it. The winner of the contest is given a place in our IMO March Mayhem Hall of Fame. This contest is also open to all family members and close friends.

I was born in the 50's in the city of El Paso Texas. I love my hometown even though I no longer live there. I believe many of my beliefs and ideas about people and the world can be traced directly back to my childhood in El Paso. If you don't know El Paso is located in the southwestern region of the United States on the border with Mexico. The natives of this region refer to it as "La Frontera". This "region" is comprised of that part of the United States and Mexico for 13 miles on each side of the border. This region is not quite the U.S. and yet not quite Mexico. Unlike the views
currently being expressed in Washington D.C. and some other parts of the U.S. we don't want the border to become an impregnable wall. We feel comfortable on either side of the border. I myself lived on the Mexican side while working in El Paso for 4 years. I believe living on the border gives one a broader world view that allows one to see the world from more than the typical U.S point of view.
After high school I joined the military and served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a Ballistic Missile Analyst Technician on a Titan II missile launch crew. As a child I grew up watching the NASA space program trying to fulfill President Kennedy's pledge of a man on the moon by the end of the decade. In the Air Force I had the chance to work with the rocket booster responsible for sending the the Gemini missions into space and I jumped on it. After my time in the military I went back to school and became a computer programmer with the El Paso Exploration Company. I now live and work in Dallas-Fort Worth part of Texas.

My name is Kim and I'm an IMO contributor. I am the youngest of 9. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. To this day I am still very proud of this. I spent most of my young adulthood playing sports and living among a multiracial society. I had the honor of being an All American in basketball, (Second Team) and decided to attend the University of Texas at Austin. I attended two years, but moved to Georgia where I currently reside and completed my BS degree in Organizational Management. I continued on to complete my Masters in Education with an emphasis on Psychology and Counseling. In the future I plan to earn a Masters in Business Administration. I will then return to my home state with my new husband, who is wonderful!!
Because I was the last born, I do usually have a difference in opinion from my brothers and sisters who grew up in a much more tumultuous time. I learned to live in harmony with people of differing ethnicities. Living in the Southeast has taught me to cherish this fact and long for the comfort of my multiculturally diverse and better educated home state. You may notice in the coarse of reading that I tend to take the side of the underdog, or the road less traveled. This should be great fun!

Hello there...I'm Dell, and I was born in El Paso, Texas. Growing up as an Army Brat, I feel I am prepared for anything! I moved around as a child and learned to enjoy a challenge. I began to yearn for my father to get orders so I could conquer the next new school, new neighborhood and new environment. I went to high school in Augusta, Georgia and college in Atlanta, Georgia. I currently reside in Maryland.
My line of work is ENTERTAINMENT...and that's pretty much all I wanna say about that! There's nothing I love more than voicing my opinion so this website is a great place for me! I will be focusing on music and movies....but Im sure I will add my 2 cents to whatever my aunt and uncle are discussing---with permission of the WEBMASTER, of course!
One more thing...I just want to reiterate that this website will voice OUR opinions, and in no way plan to incite any violence, retaliation (or plain old IGNORANCE)....so please...be kind, enjoy and love yourself. And if u dont like what we have to say...dont come back! LATER..
